And even if the German have no objections, the French will. And the Greeks are less of an issue if Germany gives the go ahead.This was a missed opportunity for the EU. But the thing is they do not want a large Muslim population country in regardless of what they say.
Actually the Germans were some of the biggest opponents of Turkish integration. I suspect now countries like Austria and Eastern European countries are even more opposed than them.And even if the German have no objections, the French will. At one point some people in the EU wanted to integrate not just Turkey but countries in North Africa as well. But there was considerable resistance to this.
