Japan be like, ew, that's gay nasty rice. We want rice grown with Japanese (Fukushima) water on Japanese soil grown with every grain of the plant stripped and thrown out except one and that one is watered with sake and massaged every day.
Most of their export is like fodder quality. At least that’s what Chinese importers use them for.

Sooner or later, Japan will have to adapt if it doesn't want everyone to starve. Sushi will be made with Indian basmati rice. It will be disgusting. I can already imagine the texture of jello-y mushy raw salmon mixed with stringy dry basmati rice in a single bite. *shudders*

That won't even work. Sushi can retain its shape because Sushi rice is sticky. Basmati rice isn't sticky.
Hire enough Indian talent and they can help you make that rice as sticky as needed. Then swap out the expensive raw fish for cheap Indian jugaad ingredients and we're looking at the future of Japan.
