That's a disaster class.

Trump had a few months of free reign doing all that bs without consequences because prices don't increase immediately.
But now that they have started to bite, time is up for orange man
Expect that from now on to see elevated inflation index.

Elect a clown, expect a circus

Donald Trump considers allowing Nvidia to sell more advanced chips in China

President Donald Trump said yesterday that he might allow Nvidia to sell a more advanced artificial intelligence chip in China, after confirming he had “negotiated a little deal” to give the US a share of the chipmaker’s revenues from the country. As part of the unprecedented agreement, which the FT revealed on Sunday, the US would take 15 per cent of Nvidia’s revenue on Chinese sales of its H20 processor, which the company introduced to comply with Biden-era controls on AI semiconductors. AMD, another chipmaker, would also provide the same percentage from revenues for its MI308. The H20 is based on Nvidia’s older architecture, but Trump said yesterday that he planned to discuss a new deal with chief executive Jensen Huang to allow the company to sell chips based on its latest Blackwell models to China. That could unlock billions of dollars in sales for Nvidia, which has been lobbying for years for greater access to the Chinese market despite Washington’s national security concerns. The deal — which sparked surprise and outrage among political opponents — comes as US and Chinese officials continue trade negotiations that the president hopes will lead to a summit with China’s leader Xi Jinping. “Beijing must be gloating to see Washington turn export licences into revenue streams,” said Liza Tobin, a China expert who served on the National Security Council in Trump’s first administration, and is a senior fellow at the Jamestown Foundation. John Moolenaar, the Republican head of the House China committee, said: “Export controls are a frontline defence in protecting our national security, and we should not set a precedent that incentivises the government to grant licences to sell China technology that will enhance its AI capabilities.” People familiar with the situation said that some national security officials within the administration were even considering resigning over signals that Trump would allow China to obtain advanced technology from the US.

THE CAPITALISTS WILL SELL YOU THE ROPES YOU USE TO HANG THEM WITH!!!
The issue is: Who is selling the rope to who?

If Chinese companies start using NVIDIA GPUs instead of trying to create an domestic ecosystem with domestic companies, first that is money that will be go to NVIDIA instead of Hisilicon for example and second it could stifle domestic GPU development. Chinese companies could put themselves in the same situation before the US Think Tank stooge instigated trade war with no potential domestic alternatives. I hope Chinese recognize this and start creating their own domestic ecosystem even if they keep using NVIDIA hardware in the sidelines.

Interesting note that the Chinese delegation to Stockholm considerably outnumbered the American one. Possibly a hint towards granularity and specificity of the asks.

BESSENT: Well, there’s a lot of pregame, so a lot of preparation on both sides in terms of, what do we want to talk about? What would we like to accomplish? With the Chinese, there were 75 of them in their delegation, 15 of us.

Once they start using Nvidia en masse again, then they will leave that sector and focus on other areas of AI. Who will want to invest huge sums of money into something they are not even sure about the return meanwhile they can easily buy a ready made/better product available to them? lol
In short, if the US and Chinese government allows Nvidia back into the market then it will obviously lead to Nvidia dominating the market completely again like before since they have a ready made/better proven product with a widely used ecosystem. So companies will be more comfortable continuing relying on that ecosystem and Chips to do their job. So yeah I believe it’s actually the US selling the rope to China to hang herself. Lol
