Yes this is indeed wrong. The seller in US pay for the export tariff aka export tax. This Peter Schiff has no idea what is a tariff, just like Trump on April 2nd.
The buyer in China pays for the price before export tax.

Bessent isn’t talking about an export tax. His talking about a trade embargo and ban on goods if China lower tariff in an attempt for the US to gain leverage over China.
So his position is actually f**ked then, why would you be anxious to use escalation tools to forcefully increase leverage, if you are in a position of strength?
Wouldn’t you be confidently threatening such escalation instead, since the opponent supposedly showed weakness as claimed.
