South Korean CEOs Golf with Trump, Talks Advance
U.S. Treasury: Talks Nearly Done as Leaders Discuss Tariffs, $350B Fund
Lee Jae-yong, Chairman of Samsung Electronics, Chey Tae-won, Chairman of SK Group, Chung Eui-sun, Chairman of Hyundai Motor Group, Koo Kwang-mo, Chairman of LG Group, and Kim Dong-kwan, Vice Chairman of Hanwha Group, are scheduled to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump at the Mar-a-Lago Resort in Florida this week.
According to the U.S. USA Today and other outlets, President Trump is expected to visit his private estate, Mar-a-Lago, from the 17th to the 19th to attend fundraising events. The South Korean business leaders are reportedly set to gather at the Mar-a-Lago Resort through an invitation from Masayoshi Son, Chairman of SoftBank. It has been reported that they will play golf with President Trump this weekend to strengthen ties. As negotiations on U.S.-South Korea tariffs continue, business leaders are once again stepping in to provide support. A source from the presidential office stated, “While not directly related to the tariff negotiations, if our business leaders meet with President Trump, the issue is likely to come up. We expect a positive role in the negotiations.”
The business community is paying attention to Masayoshi Son’s participation in this meeting. Son is involved in the “Stargate Project,” an AI infrastructure initiative led by President Trump worth up to 500 billion dollars (approximately 710 trillion Korean won). The project is jointly led by U.S. OpenAI, Oracle, and Japan’s SoftBank. In this context, there are discussions about South Korean companies actively participating in the Stargate Project. Samsung and SK Group have already formed a strategic partnership for the Stargate Project following a recent visit by Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI.

Lutnik caused trouble and was marginalized, so China should not escalate or become more assertive in its rhetoric or actions, even though the US's 50% rule is indeed an escalation. They are just a makeshift team, talking without internal consensus, so they imagine that the other side should be the same.

It's amazing to have this kind of people and this kind of team on the table, even twice.

I hope Li has not forgotten to take up DJI's case. National security is only a sham; no ban on DJI or else no REE.
The export control documents are pretty clear on conditions for obtaining RE: none goes to US military or sanctioned entities. China never said it was up to negotiation for DJI or anything else.

For DJI the deal is no ban on DJI or else no DJI, lol

Real or not, that's one hell of a wild thing to say lmfao

TBH, I do believe President Xi should have given Mr Trump three slaps. The first to startle and enrage him, the second to sober him up and make him face reality, and the third to instil a sense of deterrence. In my view, Trump's constant professed admiration for great leaders serves merely to project an image of himself as equally great. In truth, he lacks the “leadership presence” – indeed, even the “masculine presence” – he so desperately seeks. Perhaps three slaps from President Xi could jolt Trump out of his childish mindset, which would be of immense benefit to the world.
