You need to curb your hate for Comrade Musk, you sound more bitter than USAID recipients.

Contractors love milking the government for money. If they can demand more pay from the government then it's a win for them. Businesses won't turn down profitable government contracts. Trump's approval rating are as high as ever, clearly his voter base approves of these reforms and that's who really matters.

That's true, everyone here should 100% support the comrades Musk and Trump. ;)

Shocking! /s

I'm pretty sure this is stock market manipulation. Buy low, drop speculative rumor, sell high, dispel rumor. Rinse and repeat.

There is no way TSMC would take over Intel deadweight foundry in a JV, transfer secret knowledge, just because of tariff threat by Trump. That is some unequal treaty type transaction. Taiwan might as well just sell to China if it comes to pass just to stick it against the uppity Americans.

Who's going to say no to Trump? TSMC? They can't even say no to the Taiwanese government. Unless there is a change in regime in Taiwan, they will be forced to do it. It follows the same logic Trump's tariffs on Canada and the EU.

During the time of the Roman empire whenever times got hard, Rome would increase the tributes taken from vassal states. They felt the pinch more than Rome's enemies. That's exactly the dynamics going on now.

If you want to be a satrap of the American empire expect to feel pain when they do.

It is market manipulation. Notice how it happens on Friday and Saturday. That's the day he keeps manipulating markets.

No, it just mean they don't want a JV, they want TSMC to merge into Intel for free as Taiwan's "payment" for "stealing" American chip manufacturing.
Of course the same problem as JV still applies, Intel operates with an inferior culture and any configuration where that culture calls the shots will kill both.
But if Americans can compute that Intel and American semi wouldn't find itself in its current situation to begin with

Few things are unpredictable if you just keep in mind the nature of their kind.

He always makes some outlandish statement on Friday and Saturday. Markets are closed on Sunday. They hedge their options. Classic manipulation.

Uh, Intel's stock was already mooning last Monday. I'm not sure what Friday/Saturday market manipulation you are talking about.

TSMC is 100% dependent on ASML (and other Western equipment makers) and will do what Trump tells them to. If Trump sanctioned them tomorrow their whole business collapses, while Intel and Samsung can still function. The only leverage TSMC has is the AI race & stock piling that makes the US reluctant to disrupt chip supplies, but it’s not like AI can’t be trained on cheaper chips that other companies can build; longer term TSMC and Taiwan are doomed in this industry.

TSMC itself does have leverage, neither Intel nor Samsung can take on TSMC orders on both process and capacity, there are really no cheaper chips outside mainland China to train AI on, not to mention AMD, Apple and Intel all rely on TSMC for their non-AI chips. TSMC sanctions would actually lead to the collapse of the entire US tech industry.

But TSMC doesn't call the shots and US doesnt' need to sanction TSMC, Taiwan is ruled by a corrupt puppet regime and that regime can induce TSMC to do things with physical force, US can't sanction TSMC but US can very much sanction individuals in that regime.
