About to blow their 50 year head start in the space race
We'll see how this visit unfoldsTrump slapped Canada. Canada still came back and wants to be friends. Thats another way to look at it.
All this talk about boycotting of American goods don't really mean much in the long term. How long do you think the boycotts will last? lol
Canada and US will be working in lockstep. In fact there will be even closer economic and security integration eventually.
Even with a deal with China, there will be shortages because merchant ships need time before sailing, like a month.
They now admit negotiations with China have not been happening but all the others negotiations are...? The fact is everyone is holding out for China to make a deal because everyone will know what they can get from what China gets.
What a bunch screw-ups Republicans are. They thought the US had complete and total leverage and everyone was going to kneel to Trump day one. They literally thought that because how they think they could get all they wanted that fast? Ink on any agreement would still be wet by how fast they thought the world was going to bow down.
It all hinges on an agreement with China. Shelves being empty in US stores is all the talk and panic over the economy and most of that inventory comes from China. And the West thought they can decouple with China...? If would be no different of a situation if it were Biden or anyone else so it ain't because of just Trump. All of them called for actions against China that would end exactly the same. Biden's actions against China they said then all iPhone production was moving to India. Now they're saying it again and 90% of iPhones are still made in China. They thought it was just about cheap labor hence why they can move production anywhere. Everyone is getting a lesson on reality and supply chains.
Someone here posted that tweet from Mark Cuban over small businesses and why they have to manufacture in China for their products. Well if you watch Shark Tank, Cuban talks up made in the USA on the show. Reality is quite different. Then you have Kevin O'Leary used to hammer people on the show over price per unit bragging about how he has manufacturers in China that can do it for less. Now all of the sudden people are realizing how China is more than just cheap labor. China has the manufacturing technology and skills and not more expensive than if they US did it.
Here's a reality check for US allies. Trump isn't going after them so they can have better deals for themselves. He's going after them to make better deals for the US at their expense. So how is it that Trump is going to gang up the world against China more than Biden when everyone is getting it worse under Trump? Look at all the US's allies how they are nothing without the US. They were nothing going up against China. If the US was militarily mighty, why have they started the war to stop China from just being competition? It ain't because they don't do that because they're the good guys. They want to do it because they have to show China who's boss? But they can't because China can inflict casualties on them too at a scale they've never experienced before. That's what holds them back. They thought they could use the economic nuclear option because they thought they didn't need China. But now they realize they'll nuke themselves in the process.
Not just a long border. But share similar values, culture, language, political system, part of rhe 5 eye.I think you are counting your chickens too early. Economic ties are going to happen regardless of any face slapping. The issue is the mode of economic ties, and the potential concessions the US is going to get out of Canada. Anything major from Canada is political suicide at the moment
Boycotts may not work in the long run, but price does. The current issue is that production costs in the US will rise because of the tariff on parts around the world. The weakening of USD will help in term exports but it is also a double edged sword as parts imports will become even more expensive.
Parts factory will help but it would not help in a soon enough timeframe. So in the short and medium terms pure pricing will not help US products and in the long term, it will depend on whether the industry even survives in the US til then.
I doubt it will be in lockstep, but closer economic ties will happen regardless, as at the end of the day they share a long-long border. Security integration is also in doubt, there is no unified enemy to rally against, Russia cannot threaten Canada and all the propaganda against China is not working as intended therefore there is no external force to ensure this process. So unless something changes there is major doubt about this point.
Yes that's why Republicans are fvck-ups. They didn't think about it like they thought manufacturing comes back to the US overnight.Even with a deal with China, there will be shortages because merchant ships need time before sailing, like a month.
No deal, these maga assholes are on the precipice of an economic abyss and China giving them ANY lifeline will be stupid and suicidal in the extreme-Trump certainly will not be grateful-let them rot and let the cards fall where they mayEven with a deal with China, there will be shortages because merchant ships need time before sailing, like a month.
The issue with tariffs, is a consumer tax, so in up only to US to do whatever they want with it, is up the US to lessen the blow to US consumers of THEIR import taxes, in other words the US is strangling itself. China is doing nothing. In fact China lessen a little bit the blow to US consumers, at least for while, because without their retaliation Trump and Ron Vara would had impose the reciprocal tariffs which didn't only included China but the entire world. No deal, these maga assholes are on the precipice of an economic abyss and China giving them ANY lifeline will be stupid and suicidal in the extreme-Trump certainly will not be grateful-let them rot and let the cards fall where they may
