If cult leaders can get people to unalive themselves by drinking poisoned koolaid, they can also convince them to give political support despite it hurting them IRL.
So should China's retaliatory tariffs just aim at the red states without differentiating industries, just like what Canada is doing? Last time, the farming industry was the main target by China but the farmers were largely saved by Trump's subsidies. He very likely will do the same again. China is also not buying as much soybeans, corns, etc. from American farmers as before.

It would be interesting if all the countries/economies being targeted by Trump can coordinate to hit a few specific states/industries of the US really hard. Trump really should be taught a lesson on tariffs. 伤其十指不如断其一指

Unlike Canada/Mexico, the Chinese announcement did not specify any counter-tariffs. I think (hope?) Beijing will just open a WTO case and quietly let CNY slide a bit to soften the impact. The best case is that Trump gets furious with Canada/Mexico retaliating and doubles down against them, while China escapes the worst of it by avoiding attention.

US is quite happily self-immolating North America, so the wisest course of action is to not interrupt them.

China isn't a American vassal which needs to punish/favour one political party or another. From it's perspective all American parties are hardcore anti-China. There is literally no difference which party is in power. Instead I would even argue that China much prefers Orange Man than Biden or any other Democrat

China will simply tariff where it will get the most advantage/suffer the least pain (use local sourcing or move imports to a friendly state). Zero crap would be given if these tariffs are applied to Republican or Democratic state exports

National interest reigns supreme. Now if California's governor or whoever, are somehow actually able to offer something tangible then of course China won't tariff their exports

IMO Anime english dubbing has always felt emotionless in their tone compared to the original Japanese voice actors.
Culturally, east asians are more socially aware and preemptively "search and avoid" problematic topics, like the passive sussing out via normal conversation when you meet a person from Taiwan, whereas western people just say what they're thinking and then react to what comes back. A generalization, yes, but I think this is the origin of why "english dubbing has something missing" - the awareness of "I know that you know that I know" is not there

This has nothing to do with favouring one political party over another. It is to add more pains onto what other countries are inflicting upon Trump's supporter base.

But this is not conflicting with what I am suggesting. I don't think any red state would offer anything at this point.
