Hi I am very excited to be travelling to China next month

can someone tell me if I will be flying over any shipyards my flight is BA flight from London Heathrow to Shanghai

I will also be visiting Hong Kong and Beijing

can someone post some locations of areas of interest and I can make plans to visit those areas

for decades I have watched Chinese warships it would be a great experience to finally even catch one of them in real life

any suggestions would be welcome any Google map coordinates would be great

Don’t know about the fights from Europe. The flights from North America to Shanghai Pudong airport fly over the east tip of the Chongming Island. If you can get a window seat on the left side, you will have a better chance to see the shipyards underneath when the airplane is making left turn aiming at the runway. I saw the 076 on my trip in late May.

If you take photo close to the site and if they mistaken you for an Indian, you could be in trouble.

If you fly into Shanghai Pudong International airport, you might have a chance to take photo of Changxing island yards, but if your destination is Hong Qiao airport then sorry.

Chcek trip.com for places of interests in the cities you are going to.

Get Alipay or Applepay or Wechatpay apps plus some CNY cash. And get a Baidu map and subway maps of the cities. And 12306 app for HSR,

is this serious would someone get into trouble ?

I see there is a bridge going over to Changxai island, can you see the shipyard from the bridge ?

and I guess Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding is easy to walk down by the river and get photos of the Type 071 LPD?

I think as long as you don’t take out a professional looking camera or climb fences you should be okay. Just don’t be too obvious and practice best judgment.

I highly recommend installing and setting up your foreign Visa credit card on AliPay and WeChat. It makes it so effortless to pay everything, even train/bus tickets, scan QR code on AliPay, it'll deduct from your foreign Visa credit card.
