Ross, forward deployed to Rota, Spain, is on its seventh patrol in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations in support of U.S. national security interests Europe and Africa. SANTA RITA, Guam (Oct. 03, 2018) Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician 1st Class Nic Gorsuch and Chief Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician Jonathan Ross, both assigned to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit (EODMU) 5, participate in a supervisor certification dive with Mark 16 Mod 1 closed-circuit mixed-gas underwater breathing apparatus aboard a rigid-hull inflatable boat. EODMU 5 conducts counter improvised explosive device operations, renders safe explosive hazards and disarms underwater explosives. EODMU 5 is assigned to Commander, Task Force 75, the primary expeditionary task force responsible for the planning and execution of coastal riverine operations, explosive ordnance disposal, diving engineering and construction, and underwater construction in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations.
