P/E what does those three green stripes signify, and the girl standing to her right would she be a newbie .Is there anything on the uniform that might distinguish a first yearer and a serviceman who has served longer but yet to earn their 1st stripe?.

The green strips mean she's an Airman. Assigned to the Air Department, Flightdeck, PRI-FLY, Hangar deck or Fuels.

Sh'e pretty new. Probably less than two years of service. You can tell by her rating badge..Green stripes. She's not a petty officer yet.

The Wasp Class have more than enough room for the LCC mission...I believe a San Antonio hull, modified for the LCC mission would be more than enough, and allow us to keep building on that hull whih is already going to have two lasses. The Sna Antonio, and the new LSDs. Might as well build a couple of more and make them an LCC version.

Then build ten arsenal, super AAW missile ships for eacj CSG too.

Thanks for the links it made for interesting reading.
I also came across some info about why some men had red service stripes and others had gold.I believe its unique to the navy.Anyway I would find it hard for anyone in the Marines to earn gold service stripes, or keep them if they did.

The different color stripes are indeed unique to the USN.

There are many, many US Marines that would have gold service strips if serving with the USN..many.

Oh P/E.. my comment was not meant to be taken seriously........just trying to be humorous.

After reading all the reasons for why one can be downgraded from gold strips to red, my impressions of the marine as portrayed by Hollywood..............

The article never said whether one can have ones gold strips reinstated....... Can one re-earn them?

Sorry I missed your little joke.

I'm not sure how or if gold service stripes could be reinstated. I've known them to be taken away but not given back.
