More EW aircrafts in VAQ before 4 EA-6B now 5 EA-18G planned soon 6 possible after 7/8 ! coz much ordered 168 !

No 153 : 138 + 15 new funded.
VAQ-141 based to Atsugi have yet 6 EA-18G since 2015, possible some others VAQ now.

Why the Navy Wants More Growlers

With 48 in more - 15 ordered so now 33 new possible have VAQ with 8 EA-18G, 2 flights available by ex one for escort a offensive airstrike and one in defense with CAP, it would be ideal.

Also the 2 last VFA equiped with legacy Hornets to Lemoore have finish transition on Super Hornets
- VFA-94 now on F/A-18F
- VFA-113 now on F/A-18E
On this base 5 on F, 10 on E and a OCU with E/F.

All CAW have now 3 on 4 VFA on Super Hornet minimum and 2 on 9 Reagan, Stennis are fully equiped with Super Hornets.

On 17 February 2016, the final VFA-113

As we can see in pics/videos now much Super Hornets about 3/4 of the combat Fleet for ratio,
i have about 530 F/A-18E/F + 314 F/A-18A/B/C/D a big majority of C/D ofc so USN have ~ 850 fighters, later legacy Hornets replaced by 260 F-35C but seems more necessary.

For FY 2017 one Hornet, one E-2C and one MH-60S Sqns normaly " will " stand down, known units, coz the " virtual " 10th CAW in fact stand down from some years is retired and also for save funds especialy for F-35C but mainly for the VFA very possible Congress help with funds for maintain this unit, in general he do.
