I notice something unusual. In the past Russians only attack strategically important areas, while leaving most front static. These days Russians are pushing in all directions, even Sumy. I don't think it makes sense to attack Sumy at this point? It is too well protected and low strategic value.

The target on Krivoy Dog was confirmed to be the Magellan Restaurant. This is a massive kill operation against military personnel including officers and foreign advisors. However when cluster munitions are used in civilian areas, civilian casualties are bound to happen and have. This seems to be a marked change from previous policy where there is desire to keep civilian casualties at a minimum. At this point Russians might not give a f* any longer. Likely the extensive Russian civilian deaths at the Kursk region may have triggered this. We are entering a new phase in the war, one deadlier than ever before.


It appears the famous (or infamous depending on your POV) Beaver FPV drone unit is back in Zaporozhye. The unit gained prominence with its prolific FPV attacks on Ukrainian units in Ukrainian summer counteroffensive in Zaporozhye, particularly at the Orekhiv - Rabotino sector.


Ukraine sends counterattacks all over the Kupyansk front, met with the usual drone and artillery response.


Ukraine also sending counterattacks against Russian advances in Zaporozhye, also met with the usual artillery and drone response.


Special forces Anvar unit continue their precise artillery work on Demidovka, which shows the Ukrainians are still there. The advance however has been stalled there for weeks, and is working as a fire sack against Ukrainian forces that should have been more productively uses elsewhere. The Anwar unit might be a detachment of the 155th.

Putin has ordered Gerasimov to create buffer zones. This means they will carve it from the Sumy and Kharkhiv regions, but not necessarily taking the Sumy and Kharkhiv cities themselves. That puts Zelensky in a panic as this can mean that Kharkhiv and Sumy may end up being well within artillery and drone range of Russian forces.

It’s common practice to apply pressure all across the front as a means to tying down enemy forces to prevent them from being able to pull units from quieter parts of the front to reinforce struggling sections and/or form reserves for offensive operations. This is usually done before you launch your own major offensive.

Another, non-exclusive possibility is that the Russians are systematically testing Ukrainian defences after all of their recent costly attacks.

The war has not exactly been kind on the Ukrainians, and they are holding the Russians at significant cost in lives and were already scraping the bottom of the barrel when it comes to manpower generation. So all those forces wasted in their politically motivated offensives had to come from somewhere along the front, so the Russians are now testing to see how much the Ukrainian defences have weakened as a result.

We publish archive footage of a Russian Su-34 fighter-bomber dropping bombs at an ultra-low altitude in Ukraine. Presumably, FAB-250 bombs were dropped. The location of the shooting is not reported. It is worth noting that low-altitude bombing is no longer used now, as bombs with UMPK have appeared. The launch of a Ukrainian air defense missile is visible after the plane, whether the plane was shot down is unknown, the video does not show. The FAB-250 aerial bomb can be dropped from a height of 50 meters.

The Russian army has started using FPV drones of the Molniya type in Ukraine, equipped with an incendiary warhead. Technical information about the Molniya-1 UAV is in the link to the video in the comments to the video, there is no technical information yet about the Molniya-2 UAV. The video shows a Molniya- UAV strike on a temporary stay point of the Ukrainian army located in one of the buildings. The location of the shooting is not reported.
