The War in the Ukraine

There are claims that the dude who recorded himself calling the relatives of dead russian soldiers with their phones to mock them was captured

He got captured? Huh. Just a few hours ago, ASB was saying he was crying on his social media sites that his brother died. Guess he got captured not so long after his brother got wracked by some Russian bullets or explosives.

Unless he was karmically mourning the death of another brother in combat, this news/online rumour came out earlier in May.

I recall there were also Twitter rumours of him being captured by soldiers of the Crimean battalion back in March.,

My personal feeling is that given the obvious propaganda value in his capture, that a fellow like him would be lying low ,and kept well away from the front lines.

What space search radar ?

48Ya6-K1 Podlet-K1. It's an air search radar but is purported to be ABM capable too. It was destroyed around 20 days ago.

I can post the tweet if you like but at the end of the day it is "just a tweet", and it does indeed come from a remarkably pro-Ukraine/anti-Russia account. I don't know whether the loss has been confirmed on the pro-Russian side of things or not.

To be clear for those skeptical, I am discussing a possibility, not trying to "lay down the facts and kill the disagreements" :)

Nope. To be ABM capable the thing has to have a sector scan capability. and i know where the twit is.. it's from "OSINTTechnical" Which unfortunately the ABM part is coming from himself.

I dont dispute the destruction of the set. I'm disputing whether it has really have ABM capability in the first place. If the radar does have ABM capability.. then you will see even in export brochure. e.g 91N6 or Nebo-SVU. Those two were the example of the phased array radar with ABM. They have sector scan capability where their antenna will be stopped and they rely entirely on electronic beamsteering to scan the horizon.

and i dont give a damn on whether the tweet is pro what. If they are technically wrong i will call it out.

The episode of the battle of the Russian reconnaissance group of the Airborne Forces in Ukraine. During the patrol, the military discovered a stronghold of the Ukrainian army. The company commander decided to join the battle. With the support of fire from the BMD-2K-AU airborne combat vehicle and ATGM strikes, it was possible to destroy the stronghold of the Ukrainian army.

Video of Polish 155 mm self-propelled guns Krab in Ukraine. Ukraine purchased 54 of these self-propelled guns and 15 more transferred to Poland from storage. The self-propelled guns were developed in 2000, and there were many problems during its creation. The self-propelled guns can hardly be called Polish; many foreign units are used in the design. Chassis ACS K9 licensed production by Samsung, power plant German diesel engine MT 881 Ka-500, 1,000 hp. With. The howitzer barrel is manufactured by Rheinmetall from Germany. Depending on the type of ammunition, self-propelled guns can hit targets at a distance of 30 to 40 kilometers. The rate of fire of the installation is 6 rounds per minute, the practical rate of fire for long-term combat work is 2 rounds per minute. Howitzer ammunition 40 shells.

Upon further investigation it is looking like I jumped the gun. The blurb on Rosoboronexport literally calls it a low altitude radar.

It is phased array, but I can't find whether it has sector scan or not.

Thank you for the correction. I now know to be much more careful before posting things here.

well tbh the guy on the captured video from @FriedButter looks a lot more like him than the one from March. The guy from March has very obviously different facial features while the one in the video looks almost exactly like him but colder and dirtier which makes sense if he's in a trench.

Regardless of which side of the conflict you're on, we can agree its a good thing such uncivilized people are captured and will face consequences.

The two events might not be unrelated, and it will be truly ironic, yet entirely fitting if him crying on social media about his dead brother was what gave away his location for the Russians to capture him.

Given what he did, I would not at all be surprised if his social media is monitored 24/7 for any actionable intel on his location, or even hacked with viruses planted just waiting for him to log on so it could download onto his phone and send his exact location to the Russians, with a Spetsnaz team deployed shortly afterwards to his suspected location.

Alternatively, the Russians could have hacked his phone for a long time and knew his location but could not mount a mission to capture him if he was too deep inside Ukrainian held territory. Maybe his brother getting killed compelled him to travel closer to the front to try to claim/recover the body and that’s what gave the Russians their chance to grab him.
