Servicemen of the 40th Guards Marine Brigade of Russia demonstrated the use of kamikaze drones "Prince Vandal Novgorodsky" in battles in Ukraine.
The video shows rare high-quality footage of Russian FPV drones on the Ukrainian self-propelled howitzer "CAESAR" and the artillery tractor ATS-59G. The 155-mm wheeled self-propelled howitzer "Caesar" has been produced in France by Nexter since 2002. One could say that the drones literally hunted for the Ukrainian self-propelled howitzer "CAESAR".
First, the Russian drone attacked the self-propelled howitzer "CAESAR" in a camouflaged position, after which the Ukrainian crew tried to take the howitzer to a safer place. This to explain the recent take out of a HIMARS system. First a Lancet spotted the HIMARS, but did not attack it immediately. The Lancet tracked the HIMARS back to it's lair, then struck it, leaving it damaged. Target coordinates were sent to a Z-16 which then went over the target, sent coordinates to an Iskander unit, which finished it off. This highlights the use of the Lancet for loitering reconnaissance and of the ZALA Z-16.

Easier way to review this strike, which represents a new phase in the use of Gerans. Gerans strike Ukrainian logistics in the Sumy region, identifying then targeting loaded military trucks using optical guidance. Another drone, either a Geran or a Gerbara with optics, recorded objective footage.

If that's real SAAB-340 AEW.. Guess they assume there are no Russian fighters using Belarus airspace anymore, because there is only like 300-400 km distance between Kiev and Belarus border.

Su-35 and MiG-31 flying there might have no problem acquiring it at very long range.


Back in the day i made estimates on RCS.. the SAAB-340 AEW have basically 20 Sqm.

For some time now, since 2023 or so, I couldn't find examples of Russian Air forces using Belarus airspace to fly their manned in it. (drone and munition overflights are a different matter) It could indeed be that Belarus and Russia had some kind of an agreement where Russia said it wouldn't use its airspace. Of course, that's pure conjecture, but I'd like to see any indication that RuAF actually used Belarus airspace recently. I myself am unable to find it.

Russian FPV drone operators from the 98th Airborne Division showed footage of a drone attack on a column of armored vehicles of the Ukrainian army near the town of Chasov Yar. The Ukrainian column included the 24th King Danylo Brigade, a tank, an M113 armored personnel carrier, two infantry fighting vehicles and other equipment. The Ukrainian group was moving to evacuate the wounded after a previous unsuccessful attack. The column of armored vehicles was reportedly destroyed as a result of FPV drone attacks and running over mines. The video has been shortened, and the dead servicemen have been removed from the video.

In other words act like SPGs. Hey if it works, it works. Tanks have their significant contribution with Group Center's advance from Avdiivka to Pokrovsk.


Tornado-S of the 79th Rocket Artillery of Group West hit a Ukrainian PVD in the Kharkhiv region. Reconnaissance UAVs identified a camouflaged point, then relayed target coordinates to the command post. UAV confirms destruction of the target.

12 Gerans arrive in a facility in Kharkhiv. Lately, the Gerans use a new tactic where they fly horizontally at 2,000 to 2,500 meters beyond the range of gunnery air defense, aka Gepards, then take a near verticle dive reaching speeds of 90 meters per second. This creates a different diving sound from previous Geran attacks. This is not the only change in tactics.

Gerans were also observed in Odessa doing circling, reconnaissance, patrol, and scouting patterns, indicating the use of optics and relaying updated target data, controlling attack vectors to incoming drones. In one instance, a target was attacked from different directions at once, making it impossible for air defense.

This represents a fundamental change on how Gerans are being used, now in accordance to smart swarm tactics. If you remember the prototype of these swarming tactics were developed for the P-700 Granit.

Big surge in the use of Molinya winged FPV drones, here attacking Ukrainian strongholds. Over 500 reported instances of the drone was used on last March. The danger of these drones is they carry warheads greater than used in copter type drones and can travel in ranges greater.

The Russian Orbita system, designed for remote control of drones, was used for the first time in battles in Ukraine. The operator of the Russian FPV drone Ovod was in Moscow, the drone was launched in the Donbass, near the city of Chasov Yar. With the help of a remote relay command and telemetry channel, the drone attacked the positions of the Ukrainian army in the vicinity of the city of Chasov Yar, at a distance of 11 kilometers from the launch site. The use of the Orbita system will protect drone operators and allow the creation of large remote centers with them.

Extended archival footage of the battle has been published, 12 Ukrainian servicemen against 5 Russian soldiers. The video was filmed near the village of Urozhainoye in Donbass, at a stronghold of the Russian army, which Ukrainian servicemen are trying to storm. The stronghold is defended by units of the 37th separate guards motorized rifle brigade of Russia. It was not possible to establish which Ukrainian unit participated in the battle. Despite the numerical superiority of the Ukrainian group, it does not try to storm the stronghold or outflank it, mainly throwing grenades and shooting over the trenches. Russian serviceman Ivan Kalashnikov, deputy platoon commander, also throws grenades and shoots in response. The video is long, the clip is shortened, showing all the active moments of the battle. Ultimately, having failed to capture the stronghold, the Ukrainian group retreats. Following the battle, the Russian servicemen were awarded.
