The War in the Ukraine

So, NATO countries have decided to send tanks to Ukraine. But what happened to the thousands of tanks that Ukraine had before the conflict started?! Just asking for a friend. Also, what about the hundreds of tanks they "captured from Russia"?!

Having mbt is better than having no mbt... the when where and who will drive them will be the next step to make use of these.

Ukraine is the scrapyard of the cold war, we will see slowly where and when the finishing line will occur after it's all exhausted.

It's quite impressive that Russia have been able to sip all the remaining Soviet stockpiles in Europe and asking for more in one year. That's an impressive pile of equipment.

There are advantages and disadvantages, but the biggest problem is the supply chain/repair capability of these tanks.

Being a large target might be an issue, but Abrams earns signficant points for being able to reverse at proper speeds unlike Ukraine's old tanks.

From a military watching perspective, this is a much anticipated event as we will finally see tanks that have not undergone serious conflict get their baptism with fire.

Looks like the Ukrainians have admitted what we've known for weeks, they lost Soledar. What's odd is that all of the western mainstream media are reporting on the Ukrainian withdrawal as if it's just happened, with no scrutiny as to what's been happening over the past few weeks or months.

This is the Azov Mariupol "evacuation" all over again. The entire western apparatus is now subservient to the Ukrainian Ministry of Truth.

The scrutiny should be that it took a "superpower" 5-6 months to move almost 20kms to take a village/small town just over their border.

This reminds me that period a few months ago when the thread was full of updates of Russian forces advancing 1km here, 1km there.

Then in a single week/days Ukraine suddenly threw Russia out of Kherson and the whole thread was shocked by that "but how could that happen, Russia has been advancing/succeeding for so long bla bla"

Not to downplay Russia's recent advances, but the way I see it is them achieving the bare minimum given Russia's available military resources. Anyway, the real action will happen when Russia will begin their big offensive operation, that's when we can say if they are really succeeding or not

We've been hearing of the coming Russian offensive for a while now. We've seen Ukraine's counter offensive taking Kharkiv Oblast/Lyman and Izium and Kherson. Lets see if Russia is even capable right now to launch such offensive.
