the PLAAF VIP-aircraft

Most on of the worlds heads of states are flown on charters or aircraft maintained by the national carrier, as such they were the livery of the carrier or a variant there in.
other nation tend to the subdued usually with colored stripes. There are a few stand outs like Air force one, the Canadian government VIP aircraft which are black with yellow, the most outrageous is Ghana who's presidents aircraft is canary yellow and green.
the choice of design is sometimes a intentional one with lots of symbolic elements. For example the South Korean presidential aircraft is white with a blue stripe running from nose to about a quarter the way down where is shifts to a red stripe representing the division of the Korea. People. The upper half of Air force one uses colonial colors and the same font as the declaration of independence, the lower half represents the future.

so the stripe livery might have some great message. The blue meaning a river or division of Taiwan the red being the color of the party the white the purity of the proletariat...

On the other hand, simplicity has a beauty all its own.

However, China seems to have a gift of taking a perfectly beautiful piece of aircraft and give it a paint scheme to make it ugly as F---. Just look at the J-10 aerobatic team.

I think the chinese characters are a tad too big but the paint job itself is not bad in my opinion.

Might have agreed with their previous scheme. But with the current one like the post above shows, I think it's pretty good.

It would've been better if they took out the white and add yellow. The Chinese flag is red and yellow anyways. The white does not make the plane pop as much as the yellow, IMO.

no yellow please... I think that would be horrendous! it'll make the J-10s look like something that came out of Sesame street LOL but only one way to find out.. someone overlay the white with yellow in PS or something.

I think they need to decease or get rid all together the characters and darken the red to like a Maroon or Barn Red... but that would then make the August 1st look even more 'Americana' than the Thunderbirds LOL

Then you just need to leave the aircraft white and plain. That's most simple.

No, plain white is ugly. It makes the aircraft look like it is coated in white heat reflecting plastic for permanent storage in a desert bone yard.

But having some large white parts works well for a acrobatic aircraft, IMO. It allows the aircraft to stand out against a blue sky.

The thunderbird paint scheme is ulgly when viewed close up, IMO. But it works during acrobatics because its white parts sets the aircraft apart from the smoke trails and the background sky when the formation is high up in the sky.

The Blue Angels have blue and yellow scheme and it looks awesome. So it could work... The key is to make the blue as dark as possible so that it doesn't look cheap, like Sesame street.

True however yellow and red clashes unless it's kid's toys or food items :) . Even though yellow and red is on the Chinese flag, those colors cannot be liberally applied on big surfaces. If they go yellow it means red has to go. Yellow and Red combo is a big no no whether it's on an airplane or the walls in your bathroom or kitchen unless you want to go the real ecletic look.
I know because I dabble in interior design a lil bit but I also know military paint schemes LOL
