been hearing H-9 since early 2000, do H-9 based on down F-117 technology?,enlarge F-117 power two D-30K?ws-10 dry thrust may be insufficient

A bomber based on F-117 sounds awfully old-fashioned, especially compared with J-20. Quite incredible.

I don't think PLAAF would follow F-117 or B2 design anymore due to the old design. Surely the fan arts will inspire the engineers something to design...

B-2 is still an advanced design even by today's standard, but even the H-6/Tu-16 design has shown its age and can squeeze no more potential out of it, why'd China need a new bomber design? For a "bomb truck" mission profile China has none if they to adhere to the defensive doctrine, neither does China have a global-reach commitment like the US. That leaves large-sized stand-off ordinance carrier with long range capability, to launch conventional/nuclear-warhead cruise missiles.

If so, I do wonder if China have suitable engine available?

Long ago the US considered a Boeing 747 with a belly-full of cruise missiles. Any reasonable sized jet liner can be used to concentrate such missiles on one side or another of China and to launch a swarm of them. the missiles might be made low observable.

this kind of strategic bomber is complex form of weapon, China is maybe cooking something about it, but i suggest don't hope so high. So i mean if Chinese aviation engineer industry that backup PLAAF only came up with simple idea to deal with mess, the result surely disappointing. I read that in near future that China will create Air Force and Space command together, so it'll be some idea or already in drawing board about space hypersonic bomber, US rumored to have this kind of aircraft in the future and India have same plan, I think PLA planner also feel need to catch up.

They already tested the hypersonic plane based on shaanxi chief announcement but wa spurged by the censor the next day . There is all kind of photo of the purported space vehicle on the net

China 'Developing Military Spacecraft' China is making progress in building an "upper-atmosphere" jet fighter, an official said last week, adding to a flurry of speculation about China's growing air power.

Hong Kong's Ming Pao daily on Tuesday said Shaanxi TV last Saturday quoted acting provincial governor Zhao Zhengyong as saying China has "succeeded in the test flight of a prototype aircraft that can fly through the atmospheric layer." Zhao was visiting a state-run aircraft corporation at Xi'an high-tech industrial development zone.

Hmm, yeah I ever read about China and Russia also catch-up some X-37 version of their own. China and Russia before oppose weapon on space, but with US won't waste million dollar on X-37 to become space research platform, some news rumored it's a space-fighter? But anyway I hope that China can success in testing this aircraft and showed up in public in size of X-37.

There was some official contest for spaceplanes, the results were announced around the Zhuhai 2010 Airshow.

Add to that the hypersonic wind tunnel from 2000 and the "X-37 Shenlong" and I wonder what they're actually working on.
