LOL China be like, "What are you taling about? We did intervene; we gave you all those missiles with updated capabilities and tracking guidance and... wait, hold on, you're the NSA for India, not Pakistan? Oh.... oh.... I meant no comment."
They could just say: you like our stuff ? Come buy some but we will have a shutdown switch if you don't behave..

That conflict need to settle before it spiral into something else. Both countries cannot guarantee civilian humanitarian help in case of conflict. It would be incredibly painful for their population.

I'm suggesting they might not even carry out the strike at all. If these planes shot down are confirmed they've already humiliated the IAF enough to the point they could just spin it as a win
Well if we only count the demages then you have a point. But politics is much more than numbers, it is very often about principle. The downed IAF aircrafts is part of the ongoing Indian attack, but the attack itself is not anwserred without retaliation (of its own) and can not be passed.

I remember a Chinese movie

. In which a wronged woman fought a years long legal war to demand an apology instead of money compansation. When asked why, she replied, it is not about money but principle.

To be respected in the world, often physical interest is second to holding up a principle.

We are not in that game. The resistance in Kashmir is now local.
there is a reason why I put terror in quotation marks. Even if what India claims about Pakistan is true, they lost last night even if all their propaganda is true.

Less than 10 days ago, India and France inked a deal

for 26 new Rafale M carrier based fighters, upgrades to what was India's fleet of 36 Rafale land based fighters, and an assortment of munitions, spare parts plus ancillary equipment for the French jets, in addition to applicable training and services from Dassault, as well as its partners and subcontractors.

TBF the IAF's loss of one or more Rafale airframes against Pakistan may or may not have been a result of an issue or inadequacy inherent to the Dassault platform.

However, it'll also inevitably be easier for the Indian authorities to blame French technology than fault their own air force and its officers for the outcome of Operation Sindoor.

As such . . .

1. Will India cancel its order for new Rafales and Rafale upgrades, and if so, what will the alternative be?

2. Will other states like the

with Rafales on order reconsider their pending acquisitions as well?

According to

, French officials are now attempting to confirm if additional IAF Rafales were attrited on top of the one airframe that was lost to Pakistan for certain last night:
A high-ranking French intelligence official told CNN today that one Rafale fighter jet operated by the Indian Air Force was downed by Pakistan, in what would mark the first time that one of the sophisticated French-made warplanes has been lost in combat.
The French official told CNN that French authorities were looking into whether more than one Rafale jets were shot down by Pakistan overnight.

From the looks of it, the French are obviously concerned on how India's use or misuse of the Rafale will reflect upon them, and affect demand for their defense products in years to come.

If not Indian military targets, are you suggesting Pakistan to hit Indian civilians? That sounds like when someone hit you, instead of hitting him you hit his children and wife. That wouldn't look good for you.
Hmmm...
Even if their children were really annoying? /s

Actually, if Pakistan refrains from hitting civilian targets in India but hits the military, it would have taken the extreme high ground because India actually targeted poorly-defended Pakistani civilians, NOT highly defended military areas of Pakistan. So the correct analogy would be that someone attacked your wife and kids and instead of taking it out on his wife and kids, you restrict your vengeance to him alone.

My guess is that there shall be a response from Pakistan, followed by another Indian attack & another response. This will likely taper off, or at least I hope it shall taper off. Modi is at near-dictator status with a compliant media, judiciary, & weak opposition. His ego may goad him into a more foolish course of action without any meaningful restraint.
