The incoming U.S. Ambassador to Thailand says the Thai-Cambodian conflict neither benefits the Thai people nor strengthens the Thai-U.S. alliance.

“The first thing I will do is point out to Thailand — one of our key treaty allies in Asia — that a war or conflict of this kind brings no benefit to their people. It does nothing to strengthen our alliance, does not help us confront the shared challenges both countries are facing, and results only in unnecessary loss of life and resources.”

Incoming U.S. Ambassador to Thailand.

On July 29, H.E. Zhang Jianwei, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Kingdom of Thailand, arrived in Thailand together with his wife, Madam Miao Haiyan, to officially assume his post. He was welcomed at the airport by Ms. Pensom Lertsitsichai, Deputy Director-General of the Department of East Asian Affairs of Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, along with Chinese embassy diplomats.

Ambassador Zhang stated that China and Thailand are friendly neighbors with a long history of friendship and cooperation. The two countries have worked closely and supported one another over the years, fully reflecting the strong bond embodied in the saying: “China and Thailand are not strangers, but brothers.” This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand—celebrated as the "Golden Jubilee of China-Thailand Friendship."

China is now advancing toward national rejuvenation and modernization through its own path, while Thailand is accelerating reforms and upgrading its economic structure to promote sustainable growth. Ambassador Zhang remarked that he is honored to serve as China’s Ambassador to Thailand and fully aware of the great responsibility that comes with the role. He expressed his readiness to work closely with all sectors in Thailand to earnestly implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of both countries and to promote the steady and tangible development of a China–Thailand community with a shared future.

Ms. Pensom Lertsitsichai welcomed Ambassador Zhang and said the Thai side attaches great importance to Thai-Chinese relations and is pleased to provide full support to the Ambassador in carrying out his duties.

, Thai forces allegedly committed perfidy on Tuesday, July 29 to capture 17 and kill 2 Cambodian soldiers:
During a site visit by military attaches from 13 major powers and ASEAN member states at An Ses, Major General Chan Sopheaktra, commander of the Preah Vihear’s military sub-operation command, said the Thai army asked for a group photo with the Cambodian army as a reference archive for the ceasefire at the Preah Vihear’s Choam Te battlefield on July 29.
Unexpectedly, he said the Thai forces emerged from behind the forest and captured 20 Cambodian soldiers at gunpoint. One soldier managed to escape and two were reportedly killed on the spot, he said.
“They demonstrated a good attitude and were very friendly with our soldiers,” Sopheaktra said.
“I would like to ask the attaches if you would feel bad when your soldiers were captured on your territory by this despicable means.”

I don't understand here, Thailand accuses Cambodia violating ceasefire. Cambodia is the weaker side and needs the ceasefire to protect itself, how can it violate the hard-earned ceasefire? Who is telling lie here?
Thailand has warned of "resolute action" if border attacks continue, while Cambodia insists it is still abiding by the ceasefire.

The Thai military today accused Cambodian forces of "opening fire, even using weapons such as mortars" to attack Thai positions at several locations near the border in Si Sa Ket province.

.....
Meanwhile, Cambodian Defense Ministry spokesman Maly Socheata affirmed on the same day that the country is committed to steadfastly implementing and maintaining the terms of the ceasefire with Thailand, as well as adhering to international law, the principles of peaceful coexistence and multilateral cooperation.

Nah, I never say things without backup, however, sometimes things are in the dark and hardly to find any backup. Many analyses recently, especially, those with Chinese sources, say that the real causes behind the conflict are not 4.6 square km, nor ancient temple, but internet fraud industry (电诈). Would you believe that?
Well, from outsider's perspective, simplest connection is recent (ex)PM scandal in Thailand, rather than anything else.

The Cambodian Ministry of Information is echoing claims that its military counterpart had laid out against Thai forces:

OTOH, the Thai side has acknowledged their capture of 17, if not 18 Cambodian soldiers, but has also presented a rather different chain of events concerning what may have occurred.

Some of the Cambodian soldiers in question reportedly in Thai custody:

:
The surrender followed an incident in which Cambodian troops fired artillery and projectile weapons from a position near the border into Thai territory. In response, the Second Army Area deployed a cavalry battalion taskforce to repel the assault.
The Thai cavalry battalion successfully overran the Cambodian position and encountered 18 soldiers who surrendered without resistance.

From the looks of things, both sides are accusing the other of initiating the ceasefire violation, and one or possibly both belligerents are lying about the circumstances of the Cambodian soldiers' capture.

Looks like one or both sides, or at least a faction or factions thereof, is not quite ready for a ceasefire.
