Xena for me was pretty entertaining. Kevin Sorbo as Hercules came at a time when Hollywood started to change how iconic figures real, mythical, or fictional looked in order to fit with the times. He didn't look anything like Hercules portrayed before him. Even the new movie that just came out... now Hercules is blonde.
There are so many science fiction shows these days where now there are just so many bad ones. Over the holidays they played the original V miniseries from the 80s on cable. I remember watching that as a kid and it's still just as good. What was wrong with the TV series remake a few years ago that was lost from the original was regular people made up the resistance who won, lost, and sacrificed. In the remake everyone was like Kevin Sorbo where the resistance was made up of an ideal image. Everyone in the resistance was beautiful and handsome and professional.
The 80s V miniseries is still good but when they tried to do a weekly tv series in the 80s was pretty bad.(Maybe that's why Chinese war dramas are only 28-45 episodes long.)
V the remake started alright but the second season dragged. Also it was on ABC a Disney subsidiary this is why I'm very concerned about Star Wars under Disney. The direction and subject matter of the V remake was not really suitable for a prime time network it should have been on like an AMC FX Syfy TNT or premium channels. It also should have gone more thriller/spy than the kind of all over the place thing they were doing.
