NFL officiating guru Mike Pereira once said he'd never throw a flag on a player who knelt in the end zone in prayer because he "didn't want to get struck by lightning."
That same belief wasn't shared by the crew working Monday night's Chiefs-Patriots game.
In a move that is sure to generate some discussion, Husain Abdullah of the Chiefs was flagged 15 yards after kneeling in the end zone in Muslim prayer after scoring a touchdown off an interception of Tom Brady. The unsportmanlike conduct penalty Abdullah received sparked a quick outrage on Twitter where it was noted that plenty of Christian players mark their scores with a sign of deference, reflection or tribute to their higher power.

Kansas City Chiefs break Seahawks' loudest stadium record
Kansas City Chiefs fans' broke Seattle Seahawks' fans' record of having the loudest outdoor stadium by creating 142.2 decibels worth of noise at Arrowhead Stadium Monday night.
The sound level, which was recording by an on-site representative from Guiness, is louder than a jet airplane flying 100 feet overhead.
The stunt didn’t escape the attention of the Seahawks. Seattle tweeted its congratulations of the Chiefs’ efforts, noting its pride that the NFL was home to the two loudest franchises in the world.
Since the "Beast Quake" touchdown run, the two franchises have competed back and forth for the record of having the loudest stadium. In October 2013, the Chiefs set the then-record of 137.5 decibels. Last December, the Seahawks upped Kansas City’s record by one-tenth of a decibel, setting a record of 137.6.
In an attempt to protect fans’ hearing, the Chiefs passed out more than 36,000 earplugs before the game, despite the game’s attendance exceeding 76,000, according to ESPN’s Adam Teicher.
If the Seahawks want to re-break the Chiefs’ record, the franchise will have to do so with fewer voices in its arsenal. CenturyLink Field’s capacity is only 67,000

Frankly China should bow out. The problem with the winter games is it's too exclusive for only certain parts of the world. They should just find a permanent facility in a neutral country and have them there. Then probably have training facilities too open to countries that aren't naturally in the cold so they can participate.
