Re: Sports thread; everything sport realted in here...

Does the opposing coach ever heard of double teaming on the hottest shooting player on the court during a game?

this occured in Iowa. The highlights show clearly the opposition, Faith Baptist Bible College, defense was very, very soft. Faith Baptist Bible College player, David Larson, scored 70 points (34-for-44). Defense was out the window in this game.

LOL...thanks Popeye, but it still too early to tell!

Nope they will win!!

Reports are still coming in regarding a tragedy involving the Kansas City Chiefs, but here's what we know at this time. Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher shot and killed his girlfriend, Kasandra Perkins, at a house near the team's facility on Saturday morning. Yahoo Sports' Jeff Passan, who is on scene, confirmed the name of the player after speaking with local police.

After the shooting, Belcher drove to a location near the team's main campus and took his own life. Per the Kansas City Star, members of the team's staff tried to stop Belcher from committing any other acts of violence before the player turned a gun on himself. The Chiefs' Arrowhead practice facility was evacuated and is currently on police lockdown.

Albert Breer of the NFL Network reported that the mother of the murdered woman called police and told them that her daughter had been shot. Police arrived at the Chiefs' facility only to find Belcher in the parking lot with a gun to his head. As one officer got out of his car, he heard a gunshot. Belcher was later pronounced dead. Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports said that Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli and head coach Romeo Crennel were among the team employees in the vicinity.

According to FOX Sports' Jay Glazer, Chiefs players have been asked to assemble at the team's main facility so that they can be informed of all the details.

The Chiefs are scheduled to play the Carolina Panthers at Arrowhead at 1:00 PM ET Sunday, and per Joseph Person of the Charlotte Observer, the Panthers have been told by the league to travel to Kansas City as if the game will be played. The Panthers' plane is set to leave at 1:15 PM ET today.

DETROIT (Dec. 8, 2012) – The U.S. Women’s National Team put together an excellent second half and scored twice after the break through Carli Lloyd and Sydney Leroux to record a 2-0 victory against China PR in the eighth match of the 2012 Fan Tribute Tour, presented by Panasonic.

A crowd of 17,371 at Ford Field roared its approval as the USA moved to 26-1-3 in 2012. The match was the 12th all-time played indoors by the U.S. Women who have a perfect 12-0-0 record under a roof.

Additional Notes:

The USA extended its unbeaten streak to 21 games.
The match marked the first time since the Olympic gold medal game in which Alex Morgan or Abby Wambach did not score a goal.
U.S. captain Christie Rampone earned her 274th career cap. She sits behind only former teammates Kristine Lilly (352) and Mia Hamm (275) on the U.S. and world’s all-time caps list. If Rampone plays in the final two games of the year against China, she will move past Hamm, as well.
If Lloyd plays against China on Dec. 12 in Houston, she will earn her 150th career cap and become the 17th player to reach that mark for the U.S. Women.
U.S. interim head coach Jill Ellis made all six of her allowed subs, also giving Heather Mitts a run in the 71st minute in place of Amy LePeilbet.

Midfielder Carli Lloyd added her 43rd career goal during her 150th career international appearance, Heather O’Reilly assisted both Wambach goals and Amy Rodriguez added a late goal as the USA improved to 7-0-2 on the Fan Tribute Tour, a celebration of the team’s run to a fourth gold medal at the 2012 London Olympics.

I gotcha.. but still it is the national team...Oh well.

I thought the women's team was pretty good. They were fighting the American team for the World Championship a while back in the late 90's, I think. It's the men's team that sucks, sucks big time.

BTW, I didn't know they were in Houston. They advertise soccer pretty well in Houston because of the Latino population and its professional Soccer team Dynamo is one of the best in the nation. And I watch ESPN, Fox Sports Network and Comcast Sports all the time. Still, not a single word...
