LA is a so much bigger market than Houston. Also Kobe is a huge motivation for anyone who wants to win a championship soon. This compares to Houston, which is in a complete rebuilding phase? They took the Rockets completely apart... I don't see Houston winning anything any time soon, which is a shame... Not even one legit superstar? You need 2-3 of them to have a chance to win it all.

True, even the (L)Ast-ros are not doing too well either. But the Texans are looking pretty good so far after their first pre-season game with the Carolina Panthers.

After living in and around Houston for 20+ years, I have to say that Houston sucks in sports!!! As the largest city in the south, it should dominate in any and all sports. Yet, it sucks in everything. Even the '94 and '95 Rockets got their championships because MJ was gone. It never got any legit superstar, just the one who was thought to have the potential (David Carr), or someone who was past his prime (Clemens), or someone who was about to become one (Yao Ming)... The only person that had the skills to be called a star would be Olajuwon, but he lacked charisma...

A championship is a championship, even when Jordan did came back the first time, he couldn't win it for the Bulls that year. Houstonians are not fanatically too crazy about sports as compare to other cities, because there are lots of things to do around town.

Yep.^^^ eight is the lucky number in China..I found that out by reading the captions in the Chinese daily photo thread.

I think its because the belorussian shotputter who won the event tested positive for doping we got a gold out of it

There's lots of outdor recreation near and around Houston.

Interesting, I can imagine the night life leaving somebody like "Equation" too drained to play sport, but younger folks preferring fun parks to sport?.....outrageous

I'm sure that there are plenty young people in the Houston area,like all over, the US involved in recreational sports...soccer, softball, baseball, basketball golf ,tennis etc.. etc..

In case you did not know there are over 6,000,000 people living in the Houston metro area.

Ahem...check out the 94-95 season when he returned to the Bulls in March. That season the Rockets won their second consecutive with the so called "MJ years".
