These accusations have been overblown. Probably with abit of sinophobia.
When competing for and representing your country, players are supposed to be team players. It's not that much worse than football teams in world cup competitions fielding their B team once qualification is assured at group stages. Sure it's unfair to others cuz the best players dun get to play thus potentially affecting the results but that's how the game is played. You strategize and give your side the best chance to win the trophy.
