Other view with the two Philippines frigates and one Burke.
The Hamilton Class Coast Guard Cutters, which are being sold or given to other countries now (the Philippines have two, Nigeria now has two, and Bangladesh has one), have a long and distinguished service in the US Coast Guard. Most of them have conducted exercises with the US Navy over their life times.

So, for the vessels themselves, this type of exercise is not unusual. Though for the Philippines to be doing it, with these vessels now being more outfitted to be frigates, it is new.

The US has seven still in service...but will continue decommissioning them as the Legend Class cutters (also called the National Security Cutters) continue to come on line, and particularly when the new Offshore Patrol Cutters start building.

The Hamilton class all displace 3,250 tons. The coast between $16 and $20 million to build in the 1960s. In the late 1980s and early 1990s all twelve vessels went through the bow to stern FRAM modernization which cost $55 million each.

After the modernization, in US Service they have :

1 x 76mm main gun
1 x 20mm Phalanx CIWS
2 x 15mm Mk 38

They also carried one Dauphin helicopter. USCGC Mellon was fitted with Harpoon missiles and test fired them. So they vessels are capable of it, but the system was deemed unneeded for its Coast Guard missions and was removed, though it could be installed if the vessels were ever called into an active war.

The Philippines are outfitting them as follows:

1 x 76mm main gun
1 x 25mm Mk 38 Mod 2 auto-cannon
1 x 20mm Mk 16 cannons
6 x 12.7mm machine guns

They also carry one AW109 helo. The Philippines are talking to the US about sensor and weapons upgrades to carry either four or eight Harpoon missiles.

Not a terrible load out, would be nice to see a few Perry's transferred to the Philippines. Definitely better armed and more capable against a variety of threats.

Not really.

The Perry's big plus in terms of armament now is that they have a two helo hanger.

They too have a 76mm gun, They too have a 20mm Phalanx CIWS. They too sport now a single Mk-38 Mod 2 25mm gun in place of the old single arm launcher (which means thye no longer have Standard missiles or Harpoons to launch from the now removed launcher).

All of those armamnets are practically the same as the Hamilton class FFGs the Philippines are now deploying. And if the Hamiltons get the Harpoons, they will have a substantially better ASuW load out.

But the Perrys can carry two helos which significantly enhances their ASW capability.

Definitely similar in terms of armament if the ships were transferred as currently equipped in the USN besides the ASW torpedo launchers that the OHP Class has. I was thinking more along the lines of the armament load out of the Australian or ROC Perry's (Adelaide and Cheng Kung). On the ROC and Australian ships they maintained the Mk13 launcher with the capability of firing the Standard and Harpoons and the Australians took it a step further by adding a VLS setup on the lengthened ships IIRC. Agree completely about the dual helos. All just hopes and dreams unfortunately.
