Singapore would be interested in the B's ability to utilise non conventional runways, i.e roads/freeways.
Some rumors for a helo carrier a little LHD and absolutely no plans for F-35B embarked as for Japan.
If Japan wanted a super carrier we would have constructed one already.
Design, EMAL, etc. Japan had the technology for the last 20~25 years.
We even tested a nuclear reactor so that is not a problem either.
Basically Japan decided we do not need one so we are not constructing one mainly due to cost.
Agree, Japan can design, manufacture anything, including H-Bomb, Super carrier, SSN, SSBN, high perf turbofan engine, etc. Japan has the technology second to none. It should be no problem for Japan, unfortunately Japan just decided not to do it, somehow
Sadly Japan still can't control the still leaking radioactive water into the ocean Fukushima nuclear power plant.
Someone forget politic matter, a CV is a too " offensive " ship for them right now and i never hear Japan want one !
And OT conversation
I don't understand why the seemingly negative connotation relating to FON. Freedom to navigate the high seas is an intrinsic right of every vessel in a global commons such as the SCS.I see the days that these "helicopter destroyers/carriers" venturing into SCS are coming, of course under the cloak of FON
