Oh it will take much longer than that. Go ask the people of Gibraltar what they want for their future. Many are ethnically Hispanic with typically Spanish surnames, but they speak English and wish to remain so. Last time they were asked, they voted over 99% to stay British. If a Majority had voted for the colony to become part of Spain neither I nor indeed the British Government would stand in their way. They want little or nothing to do with Spain despite it's proximity, which is a good deal closer than Argentina to the Falklands. Of course nobody is keen to talk about the similar Spanish colonies across the straits of Gibraltar in Morocco, which the North African state is also trying to reclaim...
