lol i dont receive any ILQ tarining, that's what you need to go through to become a sergeant, along with various other trainings. its called intermediate leadership training, before that there is PLQ, primary leadership training for the rank of mastercorporal. they are all extremely gruesome training...
i am due to go on PLQ soon, and the inspection standard i have up there will prolly get myself ripped apart lol
Then it seemed we have quite a bit of difference here. Our Sispec is our sergeant course for combat arms, and I believe it is quite similar to the ILQ training. However we do not have a PLQ.
We go into army and was trained in the basic in what we call the BMT (basic Military Training), in my time it was 100 days of training. Then we got posted to our different service arms - Guardsmen, Artillery, Armour, Infantry, Combat Engineer, Signaller, etc, of course some of the better ones would be selected to either go to the SISPEC or the Officer Course (6months and 12 or 14months respectively).
Even in our different service arms, most of us would become lance corporals then corporals eventually in the span of 2 to 2.5years (my time, now I believe it is 2 years).
As for non-combat arms, the training is different though. they do not have to go through SISPEC. All they did is attend specialist course like Auto Technical Specialist Course, Administration Specialist Course, etc, and you graduate as a corporal, then advance quite quickly to become a sergeants.
