Should China build the f-23?

The J-20 is coming along nicely

however it is a large fighter, so a complementary programme could be a medium sized stealth fighter like the f23

The dimensions could be very close to the US f23, it could be constructed in a modernised form. It seems like a good, proven design, northrop also built the b2

Many would shout that it is copy, but does that really matter, people are saying that all the time already

Project 718 is still underway, better to see how it pan out. There's nothing to indicate whether the so-called J-20 is more than a technological testbed as yet.

And China needs more work on engines.

My impression through these years of following the Chinese military is that they don't do testbeds. Every design they've put into testing in public has been for the purpose of mass production, because of how behind they've been technologically.

Just citing the expected pattern. We won't know until we do/don't see it in production of course.

there's is report few month ago in a Chinese website, that japan is proposing a plan to purchased F-23 blue print from the US .

YF-23 is already a large fighter. Length wise it is longer than the YF-22 but it weighed less.

i'd rather see shenyang come up with something fresh

any rumors about the next gen from SAC? i think this thread can serve as a better place to discuss rumours or whatever about it, and reserve the original thread for photos when it come out
