Probably still WS-10 variant at this stage. Back in the CJDBY days there was a guy who could determine the engine used based on sound frequency analysis. It’ll be cool if we can apply that method.

I was thinking that the reason why the J-XDS main bays look so short/about the same size as the J-20 is that it's likely optimized for the PL-16 which is rumored to better than the PL-15 in every metric while in a smaller form factor. As like the PL-15 being designed for the J-20's weapons bay. While the J-36 is meant as the general multirole, carry any munition aircraft, the J-XDS could be just pure air superiority.
It was already clear what the engine nozzles were like, but this is a nice view of the engines either way.
Also, tangential question - Is using this shade of grey for prototype planes common practice for Shengyang?

That is 100% a different airframe from the original dark colored one.
This seems more and more likely. My earlier assumptions of the airframe being dark due to adverse lighting condition doesn't explain this discrepancy.
