There are new, currently unconfirmed rumors (IIRC from last week?) that the air force J-35 derivative will be under the J-35 name, like J-35(X).

They could either pull a Lockheed Martin and do J-35A/B or do J-35J and J-35K (J for jian 舰 and K for 空). If they would proceed with an export variant, then either a J-35E or straight up J-31.

These are just unconfirmed whispers for now. We'll find out.
Very interesting, will definitely have to follow this development.

I must've been under a rock, was unaware there were going to be multiple J-35 variants for land and sea instead of J-35 and FC/J-31!

Does this mean FC/J-31(?) are likely to be purely exports now?
If you have been following various airshows/exhibitions in Zhuhai and in other countries, only FC-31 models were on display. J35 never appeared thus far in these exhibtions.

Thus if AVIC is going to sell their 5th Gen fighter to foreign customers, it would be FC-31, not J35.

Yes, for a while it there however looked like J-31 might just equip Airforce and be exported (Like J-10C) and I wondered if it was really going to happen that way as it seemed off, but I never expected J-35 export.

This way makes far more sense. Thanks for clarifying.

These don't seem like the clear versions of the blurred pictures, but different ones altogether as the angle seems to be different. If the blurred photos are in fact real, I'll hope to see their unblurred versions.

I think it is the typical "salami tactic" we know since years: first a rumour, then a grainy, blurry image (like these), then a part of a clear one to tease and finally the "real deal"!
