Hmmm, not really, at least to my eyes.
The forward fusalage has a different section shape, the root extension has different flare out and different aerodynamics, intakes are completely differently shaped and oriented (f-18s' more optimized for high AoA) , wing control surfaces have different configurations, horizontal tails are completely different, and the vertical cant are at quite diff angles
It's actually quite difficult to find similarities. Maybe you are just looking at the fact that they both have LERX and both have the dogtooth vortex generators?

What will be the fuel capacity difference between J-31 vs J-20? I think J-20 is bigger, has more fuel. But J-31 is also not that small either. Its kinda similar sized to Mig-29. So, its bigger and should be more capable than J-10/F-16 sized planes. But the key to its usefulness will be fuel capacity and range.
My guess would be similar to F-35
My estimates based on wing area, rather crude, but why not. Suggest like 4700- 5880 Kg worth of fuel. While J-20 can carry some 11000-13000 Kg. You cant use them all tho as about 2% will be "trapped" in pipes and tanks while another probably 10% or more cant be used due to need to keep them as heatsink for the avionics.
Range however would depend on mission profile and more importantly aerodynamics and SFC of the engine.
Apparently the fighter's model name has been officially hinted (if not designated) as J-31?

I think it's more of a joke poking at the F-35ABC on Orca's part.
J-31 is more likely IMO.
It would be an odd naming convention if they keep them as J-31 and J-35 given they are the same platform. A version naming convention based on A/B/C makes more sense to differentiate different versions within the same platform.
