... but does it have a pitot or not?
How do you want to recognize that? A pitot tube is small and can be found anywhere: in the front as a radome tip, on the side of the fuselage, under the wings, on the vertical tail.

I even assume that such an expensive plane has two or more pitot tubes.

I think no-one denies that there has to be a pitot, but we are asking if it still has that huge one on the tip of the radome.

Undeniable there is indeed a pitot tube at the end of the radome in this photo. So possibilities are; at least one of these photos (one with and one without) has pitot tube photoshopped in or out, or there are two planes that otherwise look identical, or there are different radomes installed and removed potentially based on what is contained in the radome.

What if, and this may be the tequila talking, there is a third flying prototype in the V2.0 configuration that doesn't have the radome pitot tube?

Or maybe the photographer is just trying to f*ck with us and sent us an older photograph before the pitot tube was removed.

Or maybe the photo of the tube-less aircraft is just a fake one. Who knows.

Sorry when I said two planes, I should have written at least two. But that's probably unlikely. Who cares to be honest. I think there is just enough evidence to point towards some official PLA interest in developing the J-31 into a finished product. That's about it for now.

This context of this post is him trying to defend himself about the accusation that he's trying to earn fame/money from posting these photos. I won't be surprised if this is just a newly released old picture.

It the past @9谢艺航6 usually post photos quite a while after they've been taken. Last time (the one without the pitot) is a very rare occasion that he post a fresh one, and he gave a bunch of hint about it's fresh in the comments and the later post (which he doesn't this time).

Well, in certain way, you shouldn’t read too much about what he said

In fact, there are a lot of easier ways to prove he’s innocent, such as post a new photo without pilot tube in a good angle, but instead he first choose to imply that he’s at Xian, which could have nothing to do with the plane. Than he posted another “might be newly released old” photo with a very angle that you can’t see it easily. Tell me why he is doing this.

Anyway, surely he could have his reason, and I really hate to further imply his motivation. But what I want to say is, this is really not very healthy and really fanboy-ish to speculate what he want to say without asking anything, in this case valid photos, to back it up. Overall he is a “wall climber” right?

There are and have been far too many people in the Chinese internet are doing or did this shit before, and what he’s doing at the moment is just the same. Remember “PUPU”?, use him as an example, everybody thought he knew stuffs and he might be some really close related personal or some kind of “official leaker”, and turns out, he is most likely to be a low tier employee hired by a SAC subcontractor. And what he like the most is speak ambiguously and mysteriously, than his fanboy went all out and say things like, yeah PLA is going to cancel J-20 and buy 1000 J-31, some shit like this.

Anyway, sorry if I’m a little bit strong on this, not I’m against you or hate FC-31, in fact I will be very pleased to see something like J-35 enter PLA soon. I’m just really tired of people keep hyper and put their own will and speculations over the FC-31 or anything like this sort over and over again and again, like I said in the previous post, this has been 8 years, give me something new and concrete!

First of all, I'm not a fan of pupu or any of those guys, and I'll never consider them as reliable "sources" for anything, but for someone (and basically the only one) that can consistently post decent quality photos of this jet, I guess it's quite unfair to say he's one of those guys that just post bunches of mysterious words.

Normally he just post pcitures without a bunch of nonsense, but last time in Xi'an he posted pictures of him in a Xi'an resturant right after the photo so here we all assume that photo was taken there. Yes he didn't directly say it so you can accuse him for being ambiguous, but I wouldn't classify him as one of those guys. As a normal person that don't have any access on the actual progress of this jet, I simply appreciate the pcitures he post.

Usualy when he post a photo I would just assume it's not new (based on his record), but that Xi'an one was kind of different, that's why I mentioned it in my post. And that could (I'm not saying it's confirmed) explain why the pitot was gone and showed up again.

This is the FC-31 thread and I guess the only things "concrete" here are these photos for quite a while. I know it's frustrating, as we all are, but basically interpreting these pictures is all we can do in this thread (for now).

Thx for the understanding, I guess I was a little bit strong last night. Anyway, I really like the pictures but not very much about the guessing work, especially when it’s over developed.
