There has to be a better way than this.
I wonder if they are animals with something wrong with them.
An UK RA guy say that farmers in the UK often put their sick animals in firing areas (since the UK doesn’t have vast spaces, so they fire into active farmlands) so they if they are killed, they can apply for full compensation.
I also saw this in wiki with regards to mad cow bans that made British beef basically unsellable for a while. Could be an old wives tale.
They might even be frozen/thawed carcasses. I once read a Canadian government defence research job posting that mentioned you have to be okay with dealing with explosives and non-live animal testing
