OK since no one responded I'll jump in and post.... hope to revive this thread....

I have to crop this picture somewhat otherwise it'll be too easy for us naval warfare experts.... :)
Okay, I am game.

Hmmm...let's see. I'd say that looks exactly like a Spanish BAM (Buque de Acción Marítima ) offshore Patrol Vessel. In fact, say, the Spanish Meteoro (P-41) as revealed in its entirety in THIS picture...hehehe:

Actually pretty nice vessels. They have built four Batch 1 vessels, and are planning five more, which will be Batch 2.

Okay.

That is the DINFIA IA 38 experimental, four engine (prop) flying wing built in Argentina in 1959 and flown in 1960. It was a cargo aircraft based on research and designs of Reimer Horton regarding shoulder-wing swept monoplane flying wings. It had the fuselage and the transport chamber located below the forward crook of the wing. The transport chamber was designed to carry a whopping 13,450lbs of cargo. But it was severally underpowered and was cancelled. It was on display at the Agentine Aeronautical School until being destroyed in a fire.

It was a canceled USAF project called SLAM (Supersonic Low Altitude Missile) with a nuclear engine intended to fly below the radar and deliver thermonuclear warheads...

My turn??

Yes! Outstanding!

I told you it was easy.

The SLAM, which was part of Project Pluto, was never built, but the nuclear ram jet engine was tested...mounted to a railroad car. The longest burn was for five minutes or more. Clearly the engine was going to work. But the problem was, the reactor was unshielded and when the thing flew, it was going to spew out radioactive waste. That made the testing very difficult. They would have to test it at sea...but when the fuel was expended, it was not made to land, so would have to crash into the sea with a few tons of dirty radiaoctive reactor on it. So, they cancelled it. Besides, ICBMs were coming into play by that time, which were able to deliver the wepaons much faster.

Oh well, my next one will be harder.

But now, it is your turn. Go for it!
