Russia's Tank Biathlon

Since this event happens yearly, I think it's worth a new thread (last year's event was posted in the type 99's thread).
A suggestion, since this happens only once annually, but within the larger context of a series of regional multi-national exercises/competitions, also, might you not dedicate this thread to all of these? This would keep the thread active more than just once a year and provide an SDF clearing-house, sort of, for all information on the scheduling, status, outcomes, and standings of the whole complex of these events.

The Type96a despite being more heavy, seemes to be more stable. it drifted slightly more extreme than the kuwaiti, yet did not flip.
Nevertheless, the T-72 launch into the water and quick swim across was quite impressive! Team China might want to take a few notes.
Love the YouTuba, YouTuba shouts, too!

then stalled. that's the mistake, to enter the water so quickly and splash too much water into the engine compartment and flood the engine.
The engine compartment is not well designed. Diesel engines are more likely to handle water better than gasoline engines. The whole engine can be flooded under water as long as the air intake is dry. Tanks are supposed to be used in hash condition, designers should consider about water proof air intake.

most modern tanks have a deep fording kit which should be used if entering water deeper than engine deck. essentially snorkels for the air intake and exhaust. but the water level in that pond shouldn't be over the engine deck if the driver didn't just plow in at high speed.
