I have gotten to here I really enjoy reading up on this each time they have the exercise/event.
I wish the US/West had something similar.

For side by side comparison, type-96B is larger than the T72.
One thing that doesn't attract attention too much is the IFV. I heard China send ZBD-05 which was developed from ZBD-2000 to compete with Russia's BTR-82A. How on earth BTR's swimming capability to compare with the ZBD?

Here is a video talking about how the Russian cheat in Marine Troopers (I think it is last year) by cancelling the race on water because they know that their BTR's 9km/h swimming is nowhere near the 40km/h of the ZBD. However, it also mention the weakness of the ZBD is its low speed on ground and small diameter road-wheels, and the export to Venezuela as VN16 and VN18 and how the customer think about them.
To me, the BTR and ZBD are two different types of vehicles and can't be directly be compared with each others. Why China doesn't bring their ZBL-09?

They have and from more long time by ex " Canadian Army Trophy " but idealy more interesting have all also last Western MBT obviously with Crimea... impossible.
Ofc China use Type-96 for a balanced competition with T-72B3 used i think.
ZBD-2000 different is a true amphibious vehicle as AAV-7, for majority of others APC/AIFV it is a capacity in more more rare now than during Cold War with last modernizations especialy amouring weight increase for some Types and now don' t get it.
Russians Marines Infantry use BTR-80/82 also MTLB, i have only a Bat on BMP-2 they have also SPG and T-72B3.
