As Russia’s Defense Ministry has stated officially, both regiments will make part of the Red Banner Missile Division based in the Orenburg Region in the south Urals.

According to the source, the decision on deploying only two regiments is not final. "Everything will depend on the [international] situation," the source said.

The first regiment armed with the Avangard system comprising an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) and a hypersonic glide vehicle will assume combat duty until the end of 2019, a source in the domestic defense industry told on Monday.



"The scheduled period for placing the lead regiment on combat duty is the end of 2019. Initially, the regiment will comprise at least two systems but eventually their number will rise to their organic quantity of six units," the source said.

As Russia’s Defense Ministry officially stated, the first Avangard hypersonic missile systems will be put on combat duty in the Red Banner Missile Division based in the Orenburg Region in the south Urals.



According to the source, the Avangard hypersonic system is expected to enter service in late 2018 - early 2019.

In compliance with the established procedure, a control launch of the glide vehicle’s carrier, the UR-100N UTTKh missile, is expected to be carried out before the hypersonic system is accepted for service. However, considering the successful previous launches of the glide vehicle itself and the existence of the reliable and already tested missile, possibly no such a launch will be conducted," the source said.

The Avangard is a strategic intercontinental ballistic missile system equipped with a hypersonic glide vehicle. Su-34 entered service with the VKS in 2014. These front-line bombers can hit both ground and air targets at any time of the day, the range of the Su-34 is over 2 thousand km The main weapons of bombers are high-precision missiles and bombs. During the operation in Syria, the “thirty-fourths” destroyed several thousand militant objects with precise blows.

The MiG-31 is a supersonic all-weather long-range interceptor fighter developed in the Soviet Union. However, experts called it an unsurpassed machine in its class. Several MiG-31s can control the airspace with a length of up to 900 km. And the range of this fighter is 2 thousand km. Currently, the interceptor continues to serve - in a modernized version of the MiG-31BM. The modified aircraft can carry the latest X-47 Dagger hypersonic missiles. Russia’s Defense Ministry plans to deploy 16 Samarkand electronic warfare systems in 13 military units, a document published on the ministry’s state procurement website said on Sunday.



Three types of Samarkand electronic warfare systems will be sent to the Kaliningrad, Murmansk and other areas of northwestern Russia, and also to the Far East’s Primorye Region.
