Russia will remain in a terrible rut for at least the coming decade. Even China's economic support cannot help much with the US destroying the Russian economy with their sanctions and lowered oil prices. Choice is to play nice with US and perhaps become a vassal one day. Russians have too much pride and potential to do this, so we can be certain there is no recovery for Russia anytime soon. Many of its best and brightest understandably leave the country for western Europe, North America, and even Asia. As long as this dynamic continues, there is no hope for the economy or the military complex. They are already buying foreign ships and even Chinese engines. There is little investment into these high tech fields and we are already seeing the results. They will become only more obvious in coming decades but propaganda will make people believe it's all good.
There is no balance of power. USA reigns absolute supreme despite China and Russia's best efforts at defending themselves against encroachment. Less hope for Russia because it's been a bigger target for the US for the last few decades. More attention will turn to undermining China in coming decades as Russia is considered finished by then.
Nothing is permanent, you should know that. The Romans rose and fell, the British it was the same, as was the Soviet Union. America is no different. It's a simple law of physics, what goes up, must come down. $20 trillion in debt, one has to live in fantasy land to believe that America has absolute power. Petroleum dollar is steadily losing its place as the preeminent currency in the world. Chinese Yuan is positioned to replace the dollar in trade for China in procurement of oil. Russia-China trade has increased phenomenally and Russian trade with other countries has increased considerably, ever since the sanctions were imposed.
Those who are over confident about American dominance reigning supreme over the world. Have a very narrow understanding of how the world works. More and more countries around the world have come to the realization that there whole segments of Western policies and processes which have been exposed over the past few decades. Like the "Economic Hit Men" that destroyed Central and South American economies. Regime changes based contrived elections, protests, hyper inflation and bribing corrupt politicians. It's a never ending list. As these revelations set in, countries around the world have understood that what "appears to be, is not" and that scandals are used to divert public attention from the truth. Both at home and abroad.
One of the best examples of the demise of Western hegemony is "RT" (Russia Today). A single News Network which demonstrated the ability to bring news to the world based challenging the narrative towed by all major Western News Networks. Vast swathes of population within the North American and European continents have started comparing the western media narrative with what RT is saying and made their own conclusion that things don't add up when it comes to the likes of CNN, BBC, FOX, SKY, CNBC & etc. Not discounting the African and Asian continents, where more and more countries and their populations are now tuning into RT, rather than CNN etc.
I mean really!!! One channel managed to project the thinking of "question more" in minds of major populations in the west! If that's not a clear sign of weakening hegemony of the West, than what is?
Crimea was taken back with lightning speed, as a result of direct meddling of Ukrainian internal affairs by foreign powers. And none of the Western powers were able to prevent it from happening. Also, when the Western military was gearing up for "another Libya" in Syria. All it took was half a dozen Russian Navy destroyers and frigates to park up off the Syrian coast. And woala, no more Libya in Syria. In fact Russian intervention led to the destruction of this "Impostor Caliphate". Due to Russian intervention in Syria, the fact that ISIS was predominantly Wahhabi-Salafi by origin, was exposed. Saudi elites (not government) were forced to withdraw support of ISIS and began to distance themselves from these murdering dogs.
Russia's actions gave way to actual investigative journalism. Where a Bulgarian journalist, embedded in Syria since the start of the ISIS madness. Traced weapons supplies running from Bulgaria to Azerbaijan, using Azerbaijani aircraft (Silk Airways). Under the protection of these flights being "Diplomatic." Smuggled Bulgarian manufactured weapons to Syria via Azerbaijan, purchased PMC companies and ended up with ISIS.
Let's face the facts, shall we. The world to is multi-polar. The days of America being a superpower are gone. Don't get me wrong, the American people from the 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s and earlier were among the most respected and admired in the world. They were admired for their standing up for moral reasons and fighting for the little guy. But the last half century, it is successive American administrations which have betrayed the American people and the world. This is precisely the reason why, today America's standing in the world has diminished considerably and it's not gonna improve, like ever.
So yes, they may have slowed Russia down. But they wouldn't be able to stop Russia from becoming stronger. As Russia has demonstrated to the world how a "responsible" power conducts itself before the world. And China is demonstrating the same before the world.
