Futur SSN and SSGN, 2 variants KHASKI

A new draft for a nuclear submarine attack should be prepared in the second half of the decade to replace 671RTM projects, 971, 945 and 945A. On a tonnage from 6 to 7000 t, it should be built in 20 units by 2030. The installation of energy production, called KTP-7I FENIKS, would test on the B-90 Sarov of the 20120 project.

The Russian Navy is studying two new types of submarines that would replace the one hand the project 945 Sierra for the protection of strategic submarines, and also the project 949 Oscar to the attack aircraft carrier groups US. The two submarines would be based on the same platform Malakhit but the first city qualified interceptor or "fast", would not be equipped with special tubes for launching anti-surface or anti-surface missiles unlike the second, which would seek to attack aircraft carriers. Thus tantamount to a mission of separation as it was known before with the SNA (SSN) from one side projects 971 and 945, and SSGN of the other as the 949 projects, not to a joint submarine project 885 Yasen as they would also be asked to replace.

The version equipped with missile tubes will be equipped with anti-missile hypersonic area Tsirkon 3M22.

Their movement should not exceed 5-6000 tons and is expected to incorporate many elements new generation of composites, including propellers, propeller shafts, the anechoic coating, dive bars, drifts. Modular in design, it also would allow on the same basis to perform attack submarines or strategic. [Editor's comment: It is certain that Rubin will do anything to derail this version works on his flower beds!]

March 19, 2016, defining characteristics is still under discussion between the engineering office Malakhit and the Russian Navy.
