Russian fleet grounds attack helicopter Mi-28N after the last accident, on Sunday

AJSyeuL.jpg

(Defensa.com) Last Sunday saw the crash of a combat helicopter Mil Mi-28N Night Hunter (NATO code Havoc) during the airshow Aviadarts 2015, at a military base in the region of Ryazan, south of Moscow. During the period in which they were involved at least four of these attack helicopters performing a coordinated display, one of them began to rotate on itself and lose altitude until it fell to the ground and then caught fire. Russian news agencies confirmed the death of the pilot and the serious injuries suffered by the copilot, who remains hospitalized.

Russian media picked up the statements of the commander in chief of the Russian Air Force, General Viktor Bondarev, which stated that the cause of the crash was a technical failure. According to the same media, after the accident the Defense Ministry have decided to keep the 84 helicopters land forming entire fleet after a suspected hydraulic failure as a trigger of the accident. As shown in a video that collects the accident, the helicopter begins to rotate upon itself to fall to the ground, but does not seem to appreciate failure or anti-torque tail rotor that prevents rotation of the helicopter on the rotor.

In February 2011 another serious accident occurred with one of these combat helicopters similar to the US AH-64 Apache design.

The United Instrument Manufacturing Corporation (UIMC, part of Russia's state technology corporation Rostec) will present at the MAKS-2015 air show its latest Chirok reconnaissance and strike drone, the Rostec's deputy CEO said Thursday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Dmitry Shugaev said that completely new materials had been used to construct the air-cushion, representing the "super know-how" of the Russian aviation industry.

The Chirok reconnaissance and strike drone was developed by the Moscow Research Radio Engineering Institute. The maximum takeoff weight of the drone is 700 kilograms (1,523 pounds.)

he drone altitude limit is 19,700 feet, and it has a range of up to 1,550 miles. The Chirok can carry weapons inside the fuselage, improving aerodynamic and stealth characteristics.

T-50 PAK FA 5th Generation Jet Fighter’s Main Secret Revealed

Despite a number of technical details and specs about the Russian Sukhoi PAK FA (also known as the T-50) fighter jet being known to the general public, the main mystery surrounding the newest aircraft still remains to be unraveled.

It is with respect to what weapons the stealth fighter will carry.

In an exclusive interview with the Russian TV channel Zvezda, Radik Bariev, head of the Chkalov Flight-Test Center of the Defense Ministry, spilled the beans on the PAK FA’s weaponry.

While the regular Su-35 jet fighter has 12 mounting locations for bombs and missiles, the body of the T-50 – at first sight – has none.

"It does have weapons. Let people dream a bit and use their fantasy. It also has locations for mounting weapons. It has everything it needs, and even more," Bariev told Zvezda.

According to the Russian military, the weaponry is one of the most outstanding features of the newest aircraft, and thus it is still kept a secret.

The single-seat, twin-engine jet fighter — the first operational aircraft in Russian service to use stealth technology — is designed to be used to achieve air superiority and assist in ground attacks.

Besides its ability to fly at speeds well above Mach 2, the T-50 boasts other, even more important, features such as invisibility to radar, powerful weapons and high maneuverability.

The use of composite materials, innovative technologies, advanced avionics and engines ensure the T-50’s extremely low level of radar, optical and infrared visibility.

The T-50 also carries the upgraded BINS-SP2M inertial navigation system, that autonomously processes navigation and flight information, determines position and motion parameters in the absence of satellite navigation, and can integrate with GLONASS, Russia’s space-based satellite navigation system.

In December 2014, Russia’s United Aircraft Corporation announced that production of the fighter was ready to begin in 2016. Fifty-five PAK FA jets will be delivered to the Russian Air Force by 2020.
