It is even easier to add a higher aspect ratio wing kit and give it a higher glide ratio. Also notice in the video it almost flies horizontally, which means it already has a very high glide ratio.
The Su-34 can carry the 3000 liter external tank. In fact it can carry three of them. One in the center position and two in the wings. So I don't know why it was so hard for some people to believe it could drop the FAB-3000 with UMPK.
It was designed to partially replace the Tu-22M3 in the first place. It has a more reinforced structure, and the engines have higher power than a normal Flanker.
It would have been hard to launch the UMPK from the Tu-22M3 in the first place because it has obsolete electronics. I doubt you could program the target into the ammunition in flight with it. It would also have been hard to integrate a new ammunition type because it isn't as software based. While this is supposed to be fixed with the Tu-22M3M upgrade none are in service yet.

The Su-34 pilot especially noted the power of the FAB-3000, saying that it is difficult to imagine a target that could not be hit by a bomb of such mass, its combat power cannot be ignored. At the same time, some Ukrainian Telegram channels claim that the use of three-ton bombs does not make sense, because the Su-34 can take only one for a combat task versus three 1500 kg ones, which would be much more effective.
The damage from the arrival of 3 bombs of the caliber 1500, which the fighter-bomber can take at one time, is much more. But, apparently, someone in the Russian Federation is very proud of the developed module for three-tons and insists on the effective use of them, with hopeless sarcasm writes, Zerad.

In one of the first videos, common by the military at the end of June, attention was drawn to the noticeable deviation of the FAB-3000 from the target, which was about 35-50 meters. Improving the control of the aerodynamic steering of the bomb and the interface algorithm with the GLONASS/GPS radio navigation module reduced the possible deviation to 10-15 meters, and then 3-5 meters, which is shown in the new video.
The powerful high-explosive action of the FAB-3000 is confirmed by a wide radius of damage. Within a radius of 25-35 meters from the epicenter of the explosion, large metal structures and reinforced concrete slabs are destroyed. Full lethal action on the personnel of the enemy is achieved at a distance of up to 45 meters, and light armored vehicles can be struck by fragments at a distance of 80-120 meters.
The high-precision impact of the gliding guided modification of the FAB-3000, equipped with a set of UMPK, ensured the disabling of the command headquarters of the 1st mechanized battalion of the 41st separate mechanized brigade of the AFU in the area of the Novgorodskoye settlement. The use of a bomb with a mass of explosives of more than 1,300 kg and three fuses contributed to the destruction of the fortification nodes of the enemy.
Additional equipment of the FAB-3000 with a booster solid fuel jet engine allows to reach a gliding range of more than 100 kilometers. However, the appearance of more than 20 Patriot and 8-10 SAMP-T air defense divisions in the enemy's arsenal, given the mutual overlapping of their radar coverage zones, can significantly reduce the efficiency of heavy air bombs until the complete suppression of these divisions with massive strikes of the UAV type "Geran" and missiles.

So if the Su-34 can carry 3 drop tanks, is it possible it can carry 3 FAB-3000s? Also do we know how many of these were made by the USSR?
It is claimed the Su-34 can carry 12.5 tons of payload. So it is not impossible they could carry more than one in it.
Also, the Russians are actually producing the FAB-3000. So it is not like they are dependent on old stocks.
Anyway, the fact that they can launch it from the Su-34, which is an aircraft they have in way more numbers of than the Tu-22M3 and is still in production, makes this weapon way more viable.
