70% of truck dealerships in the Russian Federation are for Chinese brands​

Experts from the AUTOSTAT agency have already reported that in February 2024 there were 1,800 dealerships selling trucks in Russia - 73% more than a year ago (in February 2023 there were 1,037). At the same time, not only the number of dealers has changed; there has also been a transformation of dealer networks based on the origin of brands.

Thus, the share of dealers representing the interests of Chinese brands increased by more than 1.5 times. If in February 2023 it was 41.4%, now it is 69.7%. Currently, the “Chinese” already have 1,255 truck dealers, and a year ago there were almost three times fewer (430).

Thus, the remaining 30.3% falls on all other market participants, i.e. non-Chinese. And the share of their dealers has decreased over the year. For example, the figure for Russian brands decreased from 26% to 17.1%, and for Belarusian ones - from 7.2% to 6.3%. But despite this, in quantitative terms, both have more dealers.

The share of “European” dealers decreased by more than 2 times (from 10.9% to 4.4%), and it fell the most among the “Japanese” (5 times to 1.8%) and “Koreans” (7 times). times up to 0.8%). In absolute terms, they also “sank.”

I wouldn't count on this anytime soon. Replacing the nuclear reactors reaching their end of life in Russia with new ones is enough of a task right now.

Given the delays with the civilian aircraft programs like the Superjet and MC-21 and lack of alternative aircraft supply with Western sanctions the high speed rail is the only option. I think they plan to make three HSR lines. Moscow - St Petersburg, Moscow - Sochi, Moscow - Yekaterinburg.

I wouldn't count on this anytime soon. Replacing the nuclear reactors reaching their end of life in Russia with new ones is enough of a task right now.

They'd need to go from 215 TWh to 349 TWh to reach one-third nuclear electricity generation.
With the current capacity factor of 7.31, that's 18 GW of capacity.
So that's roughly 15 reactors.

And I suspect that after current construction of export reactors has been completed, there won't be many (if any) new orders, so Rosatom will have spare capacity.

The thing is there is no evidence Russia's export nuclear reactor construction binge will stop any time soon. They are still bidding to build more reactors in Turkey and Egypt besides the ones already under construction. Also possibly new customers in Ethiopia, Vietnam, and Indonesia.


If you look at the map above you will see that three HSR lines from Moscow to St. Petersburg, Kranosnodar, and Yekaterinburg would basically connect most of Russia's largest cities. Only the ones in Siberia would lack connections. This would significantly cut on the need for air travel.
