UAC head: replacing SaM146 engines in SSJ 100 with domestic ones is very expensive
According to the head of the UAC, the airlines want Russia to learn how to overhaul Franco-Russian SaM146 engines, and Russian specialists are already working on this. Why did the domestic PD-8 turn out to be so expensive?

The replacement of the Franco-Russian SaM146 engines in the Sukhoi Superjet 100 with domestic PD-8s is comparable to the residual value of this aircraft. This was told the head of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) Yuri Slyusar. It is technically possible to do this, but economic issues have not been resolved, in particular the “significant cost” of new domestic PD-8s.
According to the head of the UAC, with the residual value of the aircraft, for example, 500 million rubles, it will be necessary to buy new components for a comparable amount - if not more.
The residual value of the aircraft is calculated based on the ratio of the initial cost of the aircraft to its life cycle. That is, if, for example, an airplane initially cost $20 million, ten years later it will cost $10 million, and $5 million after 15 years. Plus an error on inflation and the market.
Also, according to the head of the UAC, the airlines want Russia to learn how to overhaul the SaM146: Russian specialists are already working on it. Why did the domestic PD-8 turn out to be so expensive? Alexander Lanetsky, CEO of the consulting company Friendly Avia Support, says:

Earlier, the media that since last autumn there were no new original fuel filters left for the French SSJ engines, it was impossible to buy spare ones on the aviation market, and there were no alternatives yet.
Therefore, in September, airlines began to remove clogged fuel filters from engines and send them for washing to the UEC-Saturn engine building company. After that, the filters are reinstalled on the engines. At the same time, carriers note that the life of the washed filters is only a few days. In a third of cases, they become clogged within 40 hours of operation, after which they are removed ahead of schedule.

Our company, which I represent, performs this work, and we understand from our experience that it really helps, the filters are really washable, and this does not affect safety in any way. It is possible that the washed filter runs less, but I cannot say for sure how much and whether this is true at all. In general, there is a problem with all spare parts, it’s just that every owner, every operator tries to solve them in his own way, someone succeeds, someone fails. In general, there are a lot of problems with the repair of avionic equipment, which was previously repaired in European shops, now they are forced, respectively, to do this through parallel imports or somehow buy all this. There are problems, but all solvable in principle, it just leads to a rise in price.”
The domestic bypass turbofan engine PD-8 replace the foreign engines for the Superjet, which were originally used in the project. After the imposition of sanctions, difficulties began with their supplies to Russia. Aerodynamic testing of the new Russian-powered Superjet was completed last year. Then it was reported that a new stage of work is scheduled for the spring of this year. In the same year, the engine can already be fully certified.
They made head line of non issue. Engines will be in short supply for next few years so there is no point in re-equiping older planes with newer engines when newer planes with updated specifications will needed much more.
PD-8 is not only needed just for SSJ-New but also BE-200 which is using older Soviet Era engine and simply not suitable for high climb in mountains.

Putin: Western companies are leaving Russia without any pleasure and suffer losses
Russian President Vladimir Putin said that many Western companies are suffering huge losses by leaving the Russian market. According to him, these decisions are made under pressure from Western governments, and companies leave Russia "without any pleasure."

But because of the loss of our market, they suffer huge losses - this is their choice, this is their decision. Vladimir Putin noted that, in addition to money, Western companies leave a “good legacy” in Russia, a production infrastructure and trained personnel. Against the backdrop of the departure of Western companies in Russia, “nothing has collapsed and is falling apart,” the Russian president believes. Russian companies "pick up these enterprises or even directions and continue this work," Mr. Putin said.
At the beginning of 2022, 2,400 subsidiaries of companies from the EU and G7 countries worked in Russia. By the end of 2022, only 8.5% of Western companies completely left Russia. According Yale University, Ford, Renault, McDonald's, Ikea and Shell completely left the Russian market.
This seems more a political decision. These countries are small and isolated i am not sure its profitable to make customers out of them when there payment earnings are not what Russia wants and they dont have the products built on own IP that can serve Russian market. it is very different world.
the larger customers get more advanced solutions earlier.
Rosatom now enters both mining of lithium and battery assemply plant. I dont think they entered mining for selling lithium but to used it in products like EV and consumer electronics.
