Forecast: Russia-China trade turnover to grow by $30 billion in a year or two

Problems caused by sanctions have been resolved globally, says Roseximbank CEO

Trade turnover between Russia and China, which grew by almost 2% last year to $245 billion, will most likely grow by another $30 billion in the next year or two, including due to non-energy Russian exports. This forecast, as reported by the correspondent of

, was made by the Chairman of the Board of JSC "Roseximbank" Petr Zaselsky during the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF-2025)

"Our trade turnover with China has not reached a plateau, there are prospects for growth. According to our estimates, in a year or two it will grow by $30 billion across the entire range of goods, including $5-7 billion due to the export of non-raw materials and non-energy goods from Russia, such as potash fertilizers, aluminum, crabs, fish, rubber, wheat, products of the metallurgical and chemical industries," said Petr Zaselsky.

In his opinion, there are several main factors of growth. "One of the main ones is the expansion of the geography of cooperation with Chinese partners, entering the markets of the southern provinces, which are not very familiar to us today. The prospects are associated with the increase in individual export positions, such as, for example, specialized mechanical engineering, which is due to external restrictions imposed on our countries," the speaker said.

Russian scientists have developed innovative solar panels
10 times more efficient than conventional silicon and allows for solar energy to be obtained even in Arctic conditions – perovskite is being synthesized in laboratory conditions at the Russian University of Science and Technology MISiS. The material, discovered back in the 19th century, is used to produce solar panels. Our colleagues from TV BRICS have more details.
For a long time, it was believed that solar panels could only work in warm climates. But the answer of Russian scientists to this statement was unexpected. They tried to use perovskite, a mineral that was discovered by geologists in the century before last. Today, thanks to the unusual structure of the material, photocells can be created from the thinnest polycrystalline film, which significantly expands the range of application.
Head of the Laboratory of Advanced Solar Energy at the Russian University of Science and Technology MISiS Danila Saranin: "This allows us to do not only the classic example - solar power plants, but also allows us to develop niche integration, that is, solar panels that are integrated into building facades, miniature solar panels that are integrated into gadgets, into Internet of Things devices, into remote communication nodes."

Kiriyenko stated that Russia has become the third country with full digital sovereignty in the internet sphere.

Moscow. September 24. INTERFAX.RU - Despite pressure and sanctions, the Russian internet segment is demonstrating accelerated growth. Russia has become one of the top three countries with full digital sovereignty, according to Sergei Kiriyenko, First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office.

"We suddenly realized that there are significantly fewer countries in the world that possess such full digital sovereignty than, for example, nuclear-armed countries possessing destructive nuclear weapons. This says a lot," Kiriyenko said, speaking at the plenary session of the Russian Internet Forum 2025 (RIF 2025) on Wednesday.
"Only three countries in the world possess the full spectrum of this digital sovereignty: America, China, and, more recently, Russia," he added.

In Russia, the unmanned aerial systems industry will employ up to 1 million specialists

This could happen by 2030, clarified Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Vasily Shpak.
SIRIUS /Federal Territory/, September 24. /TASS/. By 2030, Russia will employ approximately one million specialists in the unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) industry, and demand for personnel in this field is growing. Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Vasily Shpak told TASS on the sidelines of the Microelectronics 2025 forum.

"The unmanned aerial systems industry is growing at a fairly robust pace in our country. According to various estimates, by 2030, the industry will employ approximately one million specialists. We understand that these people include not only those engaged in the development and production of unmanned aerial systems, but also operators—those who exploit and utilize these unmanned technologies in their daily operations, be it energy, logistics, agriculture, and so on," he said.

According to the deputy minister, the range of drone applications is expanding, and the demand for personnel is correspondingly growing. Currently, more than 37,000 people are training in this field in the Russian education system. "To avoid future personnel shortages, it's important not only to anticipate needs but also to actively promote new professions today. The goal is to spark interest in promising fields among applicants so that their qualifications are in demand by the time they graduate," Shpak noted.

Various initiatives exist for such tasks, including the international "Cyberdrome" project, supported by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, which offers specialized skills in both the operation and design of robotic systems. The project began in 2019, and since then, more than 4,000 participants have been trained to operate UAS with a takeoff weight of up to 30 kg, while over 1,500 graduates have found employment at leading industrial enterprises, the deputy minister explained.

A Russian AI system will accelerate the creation of long-lasting solid-state batteries.

Russian mathematicians and materials scientists have developed an AI system capable of identifying energy-intensive and fire-safe electrolytes and selecting optimal protective coatings for solid-state battery electrodes. The creation of this neural network will help scientists more quickly find replacements for lithium-ion batteries, according to the press service of Skoltech (part of the VEB.RF group).

"We've demonstrated that graph neural networks can be used to identify new materials with high ionic conductivity for next-generation solid-state batteries. And we can do this orders of magnitude faster than quantum chemical approaches—the primary tool for theoretical predictions in materials science. This means the development of new battery materials can be accelerated," explained Artem Dembitsky, a research intern at the Skoltech Center for Energy Science and Technology, as quoted by the university's press service.

As Dembitsky and his colleagues note, solid-state batteries represent a promising alternative to traditional lithium batteries with liquid or gel electrolytes. In theory, they could increase the range of electric vehicles by approximately 50% and significantly improve fire safety. However, they have not yet found widespread use due to the fact that no solid electrolyte meets all the technical requirements.

In particular, existing electrolytes either conduct ions poorly or quickly degrade upon contact with battery electrode material as a result of reductive or oxidative electrochemical reactions. This scenario can be prevented by using a protective coating, the development of which in the past required very lengthy and labor-intensive quantum chemical calculations.

Researchers from Skoltech and the AIRI Artificial Intelligence Institute have discovered that these calculations can be significantly accelerated using an AI system they developed, built on graph neural networks. To train it, Russian materials scientists prepared a comprehensive database, including device data and the results of precise quantum chemical calculations of lithium ion motion through a wide range of materials.

The scientists tested the neural network's performance while studying the properties of a promising solid-state electrolyte—Li10GeP2S12, a compound composed of lithium, germanium, phosphorus, and sulfur. The AI system helped materials scientists identify several promising protective materials that should significantly improve the durability and safety of solid-state batteries. Other electrolytes can be studied and improved in a similar manner, the researchers

," dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the nuclear industry.

Speaking to schoolchildren and students, the director of the UNN Neuroscience Research Institute and head of the Center for Neuromorphic Computing at Nizhny Novgorod IT University explained that neuromorphic artificial intelligence models are based on the operating principles of the human brain. They use mathematical equations to describe the processes of signal generation and transmission in neural networks, which makes it possible to create algorithms for neural processors.

According to the scientist, combining such algorithms with neuromorphic hardware will enable the development of energy-efficient computing systems capable of processing massive amounts of data in real time. This research, Gordleeva emphasized, is fundamental to understanding brain function and could lead to new treatments for neurodegenerative diseases, as well as the development of neural interfaces, prosthetic technologies, and control systems for unmanned robotics.
She also noted that active work is underway in Nizhny Novgorod in this area: neuroprocessors based on memristors are being created, neuromorphic AI technologies are being studied, and mathematical models of neural networks and neurocontrol systems are being developed.

Answering questions from the audience, the professor emphasized that she does not consider the threat of humanity being "enslaved" by artificial intelligence to be a pressing one. According to her, today, AI is, above all, a convenient tool that has already become part of everyday life and which must be used wisely and productively.
