NEW IDEAS: This is probably the easiest way of making a 3/4 Barelled Machine Gun, Works the very exact same as any GPMG just that it takes 3/4 rounds at each time.

When firing, The rounds in the middle Chamber's are the first to shoot, Then the Outer Chambered rounds fire.

It is using either Roller Locking/Kiraly Delayed Blowback for its Operation. It uses 250 Round Belts of .458 SOCOM Rounds, The Belt feed is also the same as any conventional GPMG but modded to take 3/4 Rounds at each time.

Any of you guys heard of Chinas interest in Metal storm gun?

It is supposed to be under development by an Australian company for US military.
Supposedly when done this technology would reduce the overall weight of a machine gun with higher rate of fire, claimed to be 1 million rounds per minute (multiple barrel I guess 4 barrels to be exact)

Heard there were some attempt to hijack the scientist (in the news somewhere) to continue their research in China.

For more info about the guns mechanic, stage of research etc you can easily google it.

Any info on what this gun would be used for etc etc, anything.

Thanks guys

Having looked at all the exhibits - and visited Metal Storm's website - I think the only practical uses for these are in conjunction with UGV's (Unmanned Ground Vehicles) for safe building entry or elimination of strongpoints. Tied to a very, very good radar direction system, it might be a good Phalanx adjunct - provided you can get some poor Schmoe to perform rapid reloads under fire. High burst speeds are astonishing - as long as you've only got one or two targets. In terms of practicality, though, give me something where accuracy will make up for a lower rate of fire and multiple target capacity. This "spray and pray" mentality isn't for me. Why do you think the U.S. Marines work so hard on improving their marksmanship - even though they've got high-capacity magazines? In a gunfight, the first to fire accurately wins! 'Nuff said?
