Conditions 13*F thats -10* for our metric lovers. Snow 4-6 inches. with conditions south and east worse. The Great Deval Governor Extraordinaire has declared a snow emergency.
me I could care less. No skin off my teeth. Just came back from the Mall bought a Wolverine Jacket, Ball cap, Pair of Jeans one cup of Tea, One Dr. Pepper, One small cup of pretzil bites, Gojira,Godzilla 2000, Godzilla Mothra and King Ghidora. and had a fairly sizable lunch consisting of a singular Rum in Coke, Caesar salad, 6 oz top Sirlion, brown rice and cranberries, baked potato, and a wonderful bread pudding.
now just winding down.

No doubt! Lots of smart folks here. Me, I only have a BSc but schooled in the university of hard knocks for my masters and PhD. LOL

My parents (both of them chemists) always say people like us become completely useless outside of a lab. I tend to agree with them on this. I can tell you all about how a particular protein folds and changes its location in a cell, how a cell functions and how a disease works, but I would be less than useless if anyone asks me how to actually treat a patient... Much like those in the tv show the Big Bang theory. They can tell you all about the universe, but lack the most fundamental skill and understanding of the real world.

While you are getting the Icy Blast and Heavy Snow, the same weather driver is sending mild but very wet air across the Atlantic which is hitting the UK as a series of severe storms, with high winds, torrential rain and now extensive flooding on saturated ground.

This morning the latest storm caused serious problems as its surge coincided with the some of the highest tides expected this year and of course already near to overflow rivers caused by previous rainfall. Next storm due on Sunday.

Sunday and Monday look VERY cold for you Popeye!

We had that kind of below zero weather a few weeks ago here. Coldest night was -22 degrees.

Ever since, it has only gotten above freezing twice, into the mid-30s. So, our snow has now been on the ground constantly for over 4 weeks now.

We were 12 degrees above yesterday morning and about 15 degrees now.

Cold and gremlins. I left my computer at work overnight because I was going to be opening I try to log in and the keyboard doesn't work. Even the virtual one on the screen is having problems. I call HP and go through a reset. So to kill time I clean the place up a bit. The vacuum cleaners belt comes off... If I was on a plane today I have a feeling there might be some thing on the wing.

There is an eternal feud between PhDs and MDs. The MDs think we are useless outside of a lab and most of what we find can only be applied on a lab bench. And the PhDs think those MDs don't have a brain and can only memorize what is in a text book. Without us doing research, they would have nothing to learn and nothing to base their diagnosis on. Both assessments are correct. It just shows how important both professions are.
