Well, it has been almost ten years since we purchased a new TV.
We did something about that yesterday.
I wanted to get a newer one with a browser built in. Not just a "Smart" TV with Apps, but one that would let me browse the internet and stream stuff on the internet without either having to go to my PC, or having to connect my Laptop.
So, we narrowed it down to either a Samsung or an LG. Both looked great.
We ultimately decided on a Samsung J6200 40" TV. It's a 1080P. We do not need a "large" TV of 48" or more. 40" is bigger than the 32" we had, and fits perfectly into our space in the living room. we also did not want to spend the money to go 4k.
They are normally about $500 dollars, but we found one on Amazon for $367. We then called a local Best Buy because they have a price match policy and they agreed to sell one of the three they had for that price.
So off we went.
As we got near, the wife said, "Why don't we stop at Costco and see what deals they have?" Costco does not advertise like that online...so we did stop.
They did not have a J6200. The had the older J5200 and they were a little cheaper...but no browser on those models.
I heard my wife call..."Here's one Jeff."
I went to look and it was a J6400 which is Samsung's new 4k model. I told her it was 4k and would be too expensive.
Indeed, the normal price was like $800 for the 40".
But...Costco had it on sale for $499, which included a 2-year in house warranty.
This was still $130 more than we were planning to spend and I told my wife..."Look, it's too expensive. Of course I would love to get it...it has a lot of additional features (USB 3 ports, 3 HDMI ports, a plug in for a camera, etc., etc...not to mention the 4k resolution). But I am not going to go home and here any complaints about "we spent too much.""
"If we get this TV...it is all on you. I am ready right now to go to Best Buy."
The salesman said, "Dude, what's wrong with you?...Can't you see she wants it?"
I said to him, "Dude...I've been married to her happily for 38 years. So I know her. I am not going to encourage it an go home and hear complaining...which by the way, you will not have to live with."
About that time, Gail picked up the TV, put it in our large cart...and away she went to the check out line!
You heard no more complaints from me.
Hehehe...we got home about 2PM and I spent the next four hours going through every little feature...and got it all programmed up and working fine.
I have to say...this is by far the nicest TV we have ever had. That 4k is simply amazing.
...and it is working very well. I am loving it!
