Probably because the Chinese SWAT doesn't need to use as much ammunition as the Military would be in the field, noticably only PAP holds the barrel like that.

i get that, people in china don't need to not want to shoot a gun that much, but pap is meant to be the prc equivalent to national guard. every guardsman at least knows what to touch and not touch on his m4. it just drives me up the wall how much basic doctrinal issues are overlooked, as are equipment issues. we get barrel-touching, plate carriers hanging too low, plate carriers without plates, shitty boots, loose boots, stuff like that/

Barrel touching isn't a problem if your barrel isn't used enough to get hot. They are willing to sacrifice some pain that is unlikely for better grip. all the other shenanigans seems to be pointing towards recent recruits or people that is trying out a few days in the military.

The PAP isn't alone in participating in this stupidity.

From your professional perspective, this posture may seem incomprehensible. However, in China, due to the unique design of bullpup rifles, this stance is an authorized and professional technique under specific conditions. In marksmanship, there is no rigid 'textbook posture'—only the most effective one for the situation.

@QIUSIYU, I thought you said gripping the barrel is only done with the bullpups. Any thoughts?

The QBZ191 is still flawed when we talk about their ergonomics, the Handguard isn't viable. You can tell he is too tall for this gun, The stock is pulled as far as possible. So that is as comfortable as it gets.

This is the similar issue with PAP when the QCW-05 is too short, hence why they are gripping onto at the end of the handguard.

That's why they should get a custom handguard that is longer.

Agree with that last point, full-length handguards would fix all this. Might be heavier, but short handgaurds are really uncomfortable.

How fast or slow is the upgrade to 191 from the old type 95? Like is 50% of the units moved to this rifle? 20%? 30? Or is still in the testing phase with very few units operating it. It has been about 6 years right? So, there should be scope for mass adoption by now.

Pretty fast, some Air Force airfield guards and Navy shore guards began to get 191, they were all third-line units

Or to quote the blogger I've been following "From the MSNs that have come to light, the 20/21/22/23 batches of QBZ 191 add up to nearly 300,000, and the 20/21/22 batches of QBZ 192 add up to more than 120,000. 400,000 deliveries between 2019-2024 should be more than all the other major countries' armed forces' automatic rifle update over the same period of time program deliveries combined."

But of course, PLA is a big army, PAP also needs 191/192
